१८९- प्रत्ययस्य लुक्श्लुलुपः।189. pratyayasya lukślulupaḥ.लुक् च श्लुश्च, लुप्च तेषामितरेतरयोगद्वन्द्वः।luk, ślu, and lup — an itaretara-yoga dvandva compound of these.अदर्शनंadarśanaṁ
लोपः से अदर्शनम् की अनुवृत्ति आती है।From (the sūtra adarśanaṁ) lopaḥ the word adarśanam is carried over (anuvṛtti).
लुक्, श्लु और लुप् शब्द का उच्चारण करके जो प्रत्यय का अदर्शनThe non-appearance (adarśana) of a suffix (pratyaya) that is effected by uttering the words luk, ślu, and lup —
किया जाता है, उस अदर्शन की क्रमशः लुक्, श्लु और लुक् संज्ञा होती है।— that non-appearance receives respectively the names luk, ślu, and lup.
अदर्शन मात्र को लोप कहते हैं किन्तु व्याकरण शास्त्र में विविध कार्यों कीMere non-appearance is called lopa; but in the science of grammar, for the accomplishing of various operations —
सिद्धि के लिए आचार्य ने लुक्, श्लु और लुप् के द्वारा भी अदर्शन किया है।— the ācārya has effected non-appearance also through luk, ślu, and lup.कहने काWhat is meant to be said —
तात्पर्य यह है कि जिस तरह लोप एक अदर्शन है, उसी तरह लुक्, श्लु और लोप भी— is this: just as lopa is a non-appearance, in the same way luk, ślu, and lup too —
अदर्शन ही है।— are indeed non-appearance.यह सूत्र विधान करता है कि यदि सूत्र में लुक्, श्लु और लुप् शब्द काThis sūtra ordains that if in a sūtra the words luk, ślu, and lup —
उच्चारण करके प्रत्यय का अदर्शन किया जाता है तो जिस तरह से सामान्य अदर्शन को— are uttered and thereby the non-appearance of a suffix is effected, then just as ordinary non-appearance —
लोप कहा जाता है उसी तरह यहाँ क्रमशः लुक्, श्लु और लुप् कहा जाय।— is called lopa, so here let it be called respectively luk, ślu, and lup.
लोप करने पर प्रत्ययलोपे प्रत्ययलक्षणम् के नियम से उनको मानकर के होनेWhen lopa is effected, by the rule pratyayalope pratyayalakṣaṇam the operation that occurs by treating them (the suffixes) [as still present] —
वाला कार्य, उनके अदर्शन होने पर भी होता है किन्तु न लुमताङ्गस्य से निषेध होने के— takes place even when they have become non-apparent; but because of the prohibition by na lumatāṅgasya —
कारण लुक्, श्लु, लुप् होने पर तदाश्रित कार्य नहीं होता।— when luk, ślu, lup take place, the operation dependent on that (the suffix) does not occur.यह बात आगे स्पष्ट होगी।This matter will become clear further on.
