nāyakasya bhṛtyayoḥ — of two servants of one master; nisarga-dveṣiṇoḥ api — even though hostile by nature; iva — just as [there may be a meeting].
Take two servants of a single master who hate each other by their very nature. Even so, they can be brought together in one place. That is the picture; the second line applies it to the rasas.
This is the maitrī-vaira lakṣaṇa of the laharī: two rasas that are natural enemies can still combine when they serve a higher rasa.

Likewise two rasas that serve as subordinate members can come together in one place — provided it is to feed the main rasa. The master is the principal rasa; the two quarrelling servants are the two subordinate rasas that unite in his service.

O dearest one, your boy is as soft and tender as a jasmine flower. Nanda is speaking, and the tenderness he names is the ground of his parental love.
An udāharaṇa of the maitrī-combination defined in 4.8.78: two naturally hostile rasas — vīra (heroic) and bhayānaka (dread) — meeting to nourish the principal vatsala (parental) rasa. Viśvanātha frames the verse as Nanda's speech to Yaśodā.

But this Keśī is enormous — as huge as a mountain. When I think of it, my mind trembles. This is the fear (bhayānaka) in Nanda's heart.

Jīva adds a condition. In the 'kumāra' verse the two rasas must also have different objects (viṣaya): the dread is aroused by Keśī-as-threat, the heroism by Keśī-as-target. It is not enough that both are subordinate; their ālambana must differ.

Jīva glosses śālin as ślāghin, 'praiseworthy'. The root śāl carries the meaning of ślāghā, praising — so 'to make Vraja śālin' is to make it praised.

Jīva explains 'medhi': it is the central post of a threshing floor, to which oxen are tethered and driven round in circles to tread out and separate the grain from the straw. Nanda pictures his raised arm as that stout post.

Viśvanātha spells out the simile. Two royal servants who hate each other by nature still meet in one place to serve their common lord. In the same way, two subordinate rasas that are mutual foes may meet in one place — and because their meeting serves to nourish the principal rasa, it is no fault.
