An udāharaṇa of the preyān (the 'dearer' friend, the sakhā) as he shows up inside vīra-rasa (the chivalrous, warlike mood); the lead-in reads 'vīre preyaso, yathā—', 'of the dearer one in vīra, as follows.' The verse is Śrīdāmā's battlefield boast in a cowherd war-game. Śrīdāmā speaks of himself in the third person throughout — the warrior's convention of self-praise.

Rāma here is Balarāma, Kṛṣṇa's mighty elder brother and captain of the rival team; Jīva names Śrīdāmā 'rāma-pratiyoddhā', Rāma's opponent. The verb 'does not count' waits in line 4.

apitoo, also — as in the cases already treatedभी
gauṇe’ṅginithe frame-mood being only secondary — i.e. once the aṅgin (here vīra, the mood that holds the scene) is made gauṇa locative absolute; aṅgin gauṇa = the containing rasa demoted to subordinate rankअंगी (जो रस दृश्य को घेरे है) के गौण हो जाने पर
mukhyasya[the standing is] of the primary — the friendship-love is what dominates genitive; verb of standing / being-dear left unstatedमुख्य (सख्य-रति) का ही [प्राधान्य रहता है]
atra api — here too; aṅgini gauṇe [sati] — once the frame-mood (vīra) is made secondary; mukhyasya [sthitiḥ] — [the place of honour] belongs to the primary [the sakhya-love].
Rūpa draws the lesson: here too the vīra that frames the scene is only the secondary thing; the friendship-love is the primary. Even in the middle of a war-boast, what really stands out is Śrīdāmā's love for Kṛṣṇa.
A mukhya/gauṇa and aṅgin/aṅga distinction. The aṅgin is the mood that owns the scene, its aṅga a mood serving as a limb within it. Normally the aṅgin would be the chief; here it is flipped — the vīra owns the surface (aṅgin) yet ranks as gauṇa (secondary), while the sakhya-rati, though it only fills the scene, is the mukhya (chief). Like a lamp lit only to show off a jewel: the flame fills the room, but the jewel is the point.

Why does Rūpa say 'mukhyasya', 'the primary'? Because Śrīdāmā, though he lines up as Rāma's opponent on the field, has enrolled on Kṛṣṇa's own side. By joining Kṛṣṇa's team his friendship (sakhya) with Kṛṣṇa shows itself plainly. So the primary rasa here is that friendship, not the fighting — which is just why Rūpa called it the mukhya.

Viśvanātha spells the taunt out in plain prose: 'O Viśāla! You watched my general Bhadrasena get beaten — so why now come to fight me? I am Śrīdāmā, of blazing might; I don't count even a hundred Rāmas.'
Viśvanātha settles two things the verse leaves loose: Bhadrasena is Śrīdāmā's own general ('mama senānyam'), and the boast keeps its third-person swagger even where Śrīdāmā says 'aham' — 'I, Śrīdāmā, ... does not count.'
