svasāsmi tava nirdaye paricinoṣi na tvaṁ kutaḥ

paricinoṣi na tvaṁ kutaḥwhy (kutaḥ) do you (tvaṁ) not (na) recognize me (paricinoṣi)?
nirdaye — O merciless one; tava svasā asmi — I am your sister; kutaḥ tvaṁ na paricinoṣi — why do you not recognize me?
A voice says: "I am your sister, O hard-hearted one — why don't you recognize me?" It is really Kṛṣṇa, disguised as a young woman, coaxing Rādhā by pretending to be a female relative.
An udāharaṇa of hāsya-rasa (the humor here), set up by the lead-in 'tatraiva hāsyasya, yathā—' ('of that same topic, of hāsya, as follows'). The verse shows hāsya working as a gauṇa (secondary) rasa lodged inside a mukhya (primary) one — see the closing note L5, 'atra mukhye gauṇasya.' It illustrates the friendly coexistence of rasas that this laharī (maitrī-vaira-sthiti) defines.

kaṇṭha-grahaman embrace of the neck accusative object of kuruकण्ठ का आलिंगन ('करो' का कर्म)
kṛśāṅgi — O slender one; mama praṇaya-nirbharaṁ kaṇṭha-graham kuru — give me a love-laden embrace of the neck.
The disguised Kṛṣṇa presses on: "O slender one, give me a love-full embrace around the neck." The kinship claim was only the opening; now the real aim — an embrace — slips out.
The plea, and the exposed motive of a neck-embrace, are what let Rādhā see through the disguise in L4 — the joke's setup.

yuvati-veṣa-gūḍhe harau — while Hari, hidden in a young woman's dress; peśalaṁ iti bruvati — was thus sweetly speaking.
All this while it is Hari — Kṛṣṇa — hidden in a young woman's outfit, speaking so sweetly. The verse now names who the coaxing 'sister' actually is, and sets up the turn to Rādhā.
yuvati-veṣa-gūḍha — 'concealed in the garb of a young woman'; the disguise is the pivot of the whole humor.

tadā — then; abhijñayā rādhayā — by the discerning Rādhā; guru-puraḥ — in front of the elders; smitaṁ kṛtam — a smile was made.
Then Rādhā, who saw right through the disguise, gave a smile — and gave it in front of the elders. The smile is the whole point: it registers the joke without giving the game away.
The smile before the gurus is the hāsya — the light comic touch that here rides on top of the śṛṅgāra between Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa.
L5conclusion
atra mukhye gauṇasya |
atrahere, in this verseयहाँ (इस उदाहरण में)
mukhye[abides] within the primary rasa (the śṛṅgāra of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa) locative of place; a word like 'sthitiḥ' (abiding) is suppliedमुख्य (रस) में (एक 'स्थिति' शब्द अध्याहृत है)
gauṇasya[the abiding] of the secondary rasa (hāsya, the humor) genitive, subject of the supplied 'abiding'गौण (रस) की (अध्याहृत 'स्थिति' का कर्ता)
atra — here; gauṇasya — of the secondary rasa (hāsya); mukhye — [there is its abiding] within the primary rasa (śṛṅgāra).
Here is the takeaway: the secondary rasa — hāsya, the humor of the disguise — sits inside the primary rasa, the śṛṅgāra love. The joke does not run on its own; it feeds the love. That friendly relation of a lesser rasa to a chief one is exactly what this laharī is defining.
mukhya-rasa vs gauṇa-rasa. A mukhya (primary) rasa stands on its own — like śṛṅgāra here, Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa's love. A gauṇa (secondary) rasa never stands alone; it arises only in support of a primary one — as a spice flavors a dish but is not itself the meal. Applied here: the comic delight of the disguise (gauṇa hāsya) lives inside and heightens the śṛṅgāra (mukhya), illustrating the laharī's point that a secondary rasa is 'friendly' to a primary.

svasāsmi tava nirdaye ity ardhe |

ardhein [this first] half-verse locative; scopes the variant reading he is about to give(श्लोक के) पूर्वार्ध में (जहाँ आगे कहा जाने वाला पाठान्तर लागू होता है)
ardhe — in the first half-verse; svasāsmi tava nirdaye iti — [the one beginning] "svasāsmi tava nirdaye."
Jīva picks up the first half-verse, the one that opens 'svasāsmi tava nirdaye.' He flags it so he can hand us a different reading of it in the next line.
pratīka — the catch-words by which a commentator names the line he is about to comment on.

Jīva records a variant reading of that first half. Instead of 'I am your sister,' it runs: 'I am your companion of the same age; do you not remember me, O hard-hearted one? O fair-necked one, give me a love-laden embrace of the neck.' It is only a textual variant (pāṭhāntara); the sense stays the same — the disguised Kṛṣṇa's coaxing speech.
pāṭhāntara — an alternative manuscript reading. Jīva gives it as it stands; it is not resolved for or against the printed text.
