Now the verse turns to the preyas-rasa — sakhya, the mood of friendship with Kṛṣṇa. Its chief friends are three: śuci ('the pure'), hāsya (the comic), and yuddha-vīra (battle-heroism).

Its enemies are three: vātsalya (parental love), bībhatsa (disgust), and raudra (fury). And bhīṣma — 'the terrible one' — is handled 'as before': set apart from both the friends and the foes. The commentators (Viśvanātha) read bhīṣma as the bhayānaka (fear) rasa and explain 'as before' as its role of revealing Kṛṣṇa as vibhāva.

preyasaḥ tu iti — [the line] 'preyasas tu...' [is what he now glosses].
Jīva picks up the verse by its opening words, 'preyasas tu...' — now for the preyas-rasa.

śuciḥ atra — the śuci here; kṛṣṇa-gataḥ — rests in Kṛṣṇa.
Of the three friends, śuci here has its seat in Kṛṣṇa himself — that is where this mood is lodged.

And hāsya (the comic) rests, not in Kṛṣṇa, but in the pair of his devotees. So the second friend has a different seat from the first.

But yuddha-vīra (battle-heroism) has its seat somewhere other than a neutral party — that is, in one who takes a side, an active opponent, not one who merely stands aside. So the three friends each lodge in a different place: śuci in Kṛṣṇa, hāsya in the two devotees, yuddha-vīra in a non-neutral party.

iti arthaḥthat is the meaning— ऐसा अर्थ है
pūrvavat — as before; kṛṣṇa-vibhāvakaḥ — [means] it reveals Kṛṣṇa as vibhāva; saḥ ca atra — and that one here; kṛṣṇa-viṣaya-āśrayatā-mayaḥ — is made up of Kṛṣṇa-as-object-and-shelter; iti arthaḥ — such is the sense.
'As before' means: bhīṣma serves as a vibhāva that reveals Kṛṣṇa. And here, Jīva adds, that neutral mood is one in which Kṛṣṇa is at once the object it points to and the shelter that holds it. That is the intended sense.
viṣaya = the object toward whom a rasa flows (Kṛṣṇa as the one enjoyed); āśraya = the vessel in whom it rests (the devotee who feels it). Jīva's point is that in this neutral case both roles fall on Kṛṣṇa himself.

preyasaḥ — 'preyas'; sakhyasya — [is] the sakhya-rasa's; dviṣaḥ — 'dviṣ'; śatravaḥ — [means] enemies.
Viśvanātha glosses the two key words: 'preyas' is the sakhya-rasa (friendship), and 'dviṣ' means its enemies.

bhīṣmaḥ'bhīṣma' [in the verse] means'भीष्म' का अर्थ है
bhayānakaḥthe bhayānaka rasa (the mood of fear)भयानक (रस)
bhīṣmaḥ — 'bhīṣma'; bhayānakaḥ — [means] the bhayānaka (fear) rasa.
'Bhīṣma' — literally 'the terrible one' — is the code for the bhayānaka rasa, the mood of fear.
bhīṣma ('terrible, dread-inspiring') and bhayānaka ('fearsome') are near-synonyms; Viśvanātha uses the second, the standard rasa-name, to identify what the verse's 'bhīṣma' points to.

'As before' means it serves as a vibhāva that reveals Śrī Kṛṣṇa — so bhīṣma (bhayānaka) is the neutral mood here, taking Kṛṣṇa as its vibhāva, just as in the earlier verses.
