L1definition
yaḥ prerako bhaya-sthāne sāhasī sa nigadyate ||
yaḥwhoeverजो (पुरुष)
bhaya-sthānein a spot of real danger — where there is cause for fear locative of circumstance: when a dangerous situation is at handजब भय का अवसर आ उपस्थित हो
prerakaḥis the one who eggs [another] on — the instigator who pushes someone into itदूसरे को (उसमें) प्रेरित करनेवाला होता है
saḥheवह
sāhasī'the reckless one (sāhasī)' — one given to rash daringसाहसी (नाम से)
nigadyateis called passive, laying down the naming ruleकहलाता है
yaḥ — whoever; bhaya-sthāne — in a place of danger; prerakaḥ — is the one who eggs [another] on; saḥ — he; sāhasī — 'the reckless one (sāhasī)'; nigadyate — is called.
Now the second type. Whoever, right where there is real danger, is the one urging another on — pushing him into it — that man is called the sāhasī, the reckless instigator. He is named for the rash daring with which he prods someone toward a risky thing.
sāhasa is rash, headlong daring; the sāhasī is the person given to it. Here he is defined not by braving danger himself but by prodding someone else into it — a preraka, a pusher — which is what makes him a fit target of another's anger.

govindaḥ priya-suhṛdāṁ giraiva yātas

priya-suhṛdāṁof his dear friends — on their say-so genitive going with girā: it was their word that sent himअपने प्रिय सखाओं के (जिनका वचन उसे ले गया)
girā evamerely on the word — by talk alone, nothing more (eva = and only that) instrumental of means; eva rules out any other cause — just because they said soकेवल वचनमात्र से ही (और किसी कारण से नहीं)
yātaḥhas gone off predicate inside the report Yaśodā hears; its goal comes in L3 (tālānāṁ vipinam)चला गया
govindaḥ — Govinda; priya-suhṛdāṁ girā eva — merely on the word of his dear friends; yātaḥ — has gone off [to the palm-forest, L3].
The example opens with the news that reaches Yaśodā. 'Govinda has gone off — and only because his dear friends said so, on their word alone.' The friends who talked him into it are the sāhasī of the previous line: they prompted him toward a dangerous place.
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse, lead-in yathā—) of the sāhasī defined in 4.5.11: the dear friends who, by mere word, send Govinda off to the palm-forest are the reckless instigators (preraka in a bhaya-sthāna), and Yaśodā's flaring anger at the boys is the raudra this laharī illustrates.

Where has he gone? To the Tālavana, the palm-forest. That is how the report ran — and she heard it plainly, in clear words, not as some vague rumor. That hearing is what sets her off.
tālānāṁ vipinam, the palm-grove, stands as the bhaya-sthāna, the 'place of danger,' of L1 — the risky spot the friends prompted Govinda toward.

Her brows break into a frown, and the frown knits her gaze uneven — no smooth, level look but a broken, bumpy glare. With that look she fixes the faces of these boys. This is the raudra showing on her face.
sthapuṭita, 'made uneven,' is the word the commentators stop to gloss (see the Jīva and Viśvanātha notes): the anger tugs her steady gaze into ups and downs.

Whose is the angry look? Yaśodā's — the wife of Nanda, the lord of Vraja, the housewife of the settlement. And at whom? At these little boys. With that frowning, uneven glare she stared them down. So the verse illustrates raudra: a mother's anger flaring at the children who let her Govinda be led off to danger.
vraja-pati-gehinī, 'the wife of Vraja's lord,' is identified as Yaśodā by Viśvanātha (see c3-visvanatha.s1).

Jīva glosses the hard word sthapuṭita: it means viṣamīkṛta, 'made uneven.' Her gaze has been knocked out of its level calm.

One more step. And 'uneven' (viṣama) itself means natonnata — sunk here, raised there. So the frown does not just cloud her look; it pulls it into ridges and hollows, a broken, bumpy glare rather than a smooth one.

Viśvanātha runs the whole verse in prose order. He reads niśamya as śrutvā, 'having heard.' Then he supplies the emotion the verse only shows on the face: krodhena, 'out of anger' — that is the raudra spelled out. She whose brows' furrowing had knit her gaze uneven — she is Yaśodā, the wife of Vraja's lord. ḍimbha he softens to bālaka, 'the boys,' and āsya he glosses as mukha, 'the face.' Yaśodā looked at the boys' faces — a hard, angry stare.
Viśvanātha makes two identifications the verse leaves implicit: vraja-pati-gehinī = Yaśodā, and he adds krodhena, 'out of anger,' as the cause of the frowning look — the raudra.
