An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) for raudra-bhakti-rasa, 'the devotional mood of anger', the subject of laharī 5. It is an angry speech hurled at Yaśodā — spoken by Śrī Rohiṇī according to Jīva, by the women of Upananda's household according to Viśvanātha — as Kṛṣṇa, tied to the mortar, drags himself between the twin arjuna (yamalārjuna) trees and brings them crashing down.

'truṭyat' (splitting) is a present-tense participle. Jīva explains: the trees have in fact already broken — a past event — yet the present form stands, either because the crash is so near to now, or else because it is simply handled as a present.
The rule invoked is Pāṇini 3.3.131, vartamāna-sāmīpye vartamānavat: an event just past or just about to happen may be spoken of in the present.

Jīva reconstructs the scene, marking it as probable. On that day Rohiṇī had gone with her son (Balarāma) to one of the elders' houses — Upananda's or another — for an invitation. The crash of the breaking trees brought her running back. Near Kṛṣṇa she saw Nanda and the others already arriving, so she slipped back inside the house. Yaśodā, meanwhile, had fainted from fright at that sound and was only just coming to. So, on Jīva's reading, these are Rohiṇī's words, spoken to the barely-revived Yaśodā.
