Jīva pins down what makes the lapse happen. While he is caring for Kṛṣṇa, at some moment some other Kṛṣṇa-related mood sweeps in and throws his mind off balance. So he goes heedless. Even when the situation is one that could cause grave harm, he simply cannot bring himself to notice it. That helper is what is called the anavahita, the inattentive one. Note Jīva's point: the distraction is itself a Kṛṣṇa-directed feeling, not mere carelessness.
