dhṛtāṭope gopeśvara-jaladhi-candre parikaraṁ
dhṛtāṭopeonce [Kṛṣṇa] has put on a warrior's swagger dhṛta 'assumed' + āṭopa 'swelling pomp, arrogant display'; locative agreeing with candre — read as a locative-absolute, 'when he has taken on the swagger…'
gopeśvara-jaladhi-candreon the moon risen from the ocean that is Nanda, lord of the cowherds — i.e. Kṛṣṇa locative; a metaphor-compound — gopeśvara (Nanda) is the jaladhi (ocean), and the candra (moon) born from it is Kṛṣṇaगोपेश्वर (नन्द) रूपी समुद्र से उत्पन्न चन्द्र (कृष्ण) के विषय में — रूपक-समास, सप्तमी
parikaraṁhis girding-cloth — the belt tied round the waist to ready oneself for a bout accusative, object of nibadhnati in L2 (the sense carries over)कमरबंद को (मूल की दूसरी पंक्ति के 'निबध्नाति' क्रिया का कर्म — अर्थ आगे चलता है)
dhṛtāṭope gopeśvara-jaladhi-candre — once Kṛṣṇa, the moon risen from Nanda's ocean, has put on his swagger; parikaraṁ — the girding-cloth.
Picture Kṛṣṇa as the moon risen from the ocean that is Nanda, lord of the cowherds. He has put on a warrior's swagger and reaches for his girding-cloth — the belt a fighter ties on before a bout. The stage is set for a mock-battle. (The sentence finishes in the next line.)
An udāharaṇa (illustration) of āhopuruṣikā — 'self-conceit, the vaunting pride of one's own prowess' — an anubhāva of vīra-bhakti-rasa, the rasa of heroism (laharī 3). The lead-in āhopuruṣikā, yathā ('self-conceit, as follows') announces it. The boaster is Sudāmā, a cowherd companion of Kṛṣṇa; the scene is a friendly show of arms in Vraja.

nibadhnatihe ties [it] on, girds himself up 3rd sg. present; Viśvanātha supplies sati to read it as a locative-absolute, 'when he girds up…'
ullāsātout of sheer exuberance ablative of cause — the girding springs from high spirits, not grim needउल्लास के कारण — कमर कसना उमंग से होता है, किसी विवशता से नहीं (पञ्चमी, हेतु में)
bhuja-samara-caryā-samucitamone fit for the work of arm-to-arm combat accusative agreeing with parikaraṁ; bhuja 'arm' + samara 'battle' + caryā 'practice' + samucita 'befitting'भुजाओं के रणाभ्यास के योग्य — 'परिकरं' का विशेषण (भुज + समर + चर्या + समुचित)
ullāsāt — out of exuberance; bhuja-samara-caryā-samucitam parikaraṁ — the belt fit for arm-to-arm combat; nibadhnati — he ties on.
Out of sheer high spirits Kṛṣṇa ties on the belt — the kind fit for a wrestling, arm-to-arm fight. This is play, done for the joy of it. So far the whole clause has only described Kṛṣṇa girding for the friendly contest; the real subject arrives in the next two lines.

kṣveḍā-niviḍa-mukha-bimbasyawhose round face is packed with a battle-roar genitive agreeing with sudāmnaḥ; kṣveḍā 'war-cry, lion's roar' + niviḍa 'dense, filling' + mukha-bimba 'the orb of the face'; Viśvanātha: siṁha-nādena vyāptaजिसका मुखमण्डल सिंहगर्जना जैसे युद्धघोष (क्ष्वेडा) से भर उठा है (निविड = व्याप्त) — सुदामा का विशेषण (षष्ठी); विश्वनाथ: सिंहनाद से व्याप्त

Now the friend. Sudāmā's whole round face is filled with a battle-roar, and he dances, thrilled, the hair on his body standing up. He is not fighting yet — he is dancing his readiness, roaring, bristling with excitement. (Whose all this is comes in the last line.)

All glory, again and again, to Sudāmā's self-conceit! Eager to fight, he vaunts his own prowess — and the poet crowns that swaggering pride with jayati, 'may it triumph.' āhopuruṣikā is exactly that: the boast 'I am the greatest.' It is the mood the whole verse exists to show.

sa-romāñcaṁ sotkaṇṭhaṁ ca'thrilled' and 'with eager longing' — the two adverbs together ca joins the pair; both are adverbial accusatives, from L3 and L4'सरोमांच' और 'सोत्कण्ठ' — 'च' दोनों को जोड़ता है; दोनों क्रियाविशेषण द्वितीया (मूल की तीसरी और चौथी पंक्ति से)
yathā syāt tathā naṭataḥbelong to 'dancing in such a way that [they] come about' the yathā…tathā frame ties them to the dancing, not to anything elseजैसे हो वैसे नाचता है — 'यथा…
iti yojyam— so it is to be construed yojya 'to be joined/parsed'; a bare construing instruction, not a gloss of meaningऐसा अन्वय करना चाहिए — यह केवल जोड़ने का निर्देश है, अर्थ का व्याख्यान नहीं
sa-romāñcaṁ sotkaṇṭhaṁ ca — 'thrilled and longing'; naṭataḥ yathā syāt tathā — [attach to] 'dancing such that they arise'; iti yojyam — construe it thus.
Jīva gives only a syntax note. Take the two adverbs — sa-romāñcaṁ, 'thrilled', and sotkaṇṭhaṁ, 'with eager longing' — and attach both to naṭataḥ, 'dancing.' The sense is 'dancing in such a way that the thrill and the longing show.' He is telling you how to join the words, not glossing what they mean.

Viśvanātha stages the scene. First he voices Kṛṣṇa's swagger, the āṭopa: 'I alone am the supreme warrior — who are you wretches?' Then he unpacks the moon-metaphor: Kṛṣṇa's parents, the cowherd-queen and Nanda, are the 'ocean', and the 'moon' risen from it is Śrī Kṛṣṇa. When this Kṛṣṇa girds on the belt fit for the wondrous occasion, Sudāmā — his round face filled with a lion's roar, dancing so hard the thrill breaks out over him — begins his own boast: 'I alone am the very best warrior…' Note that Viśvanātha rephrases the verse's 'arm-to-arm combat' (bhuja-samara-caryā) as 'the wondrous occasion' (adbhuta-samaya-caryā).

” iti āhopuruṣikā— such is [Sudāmā's] self-conceit iti closes the quoted boast and ties it back to the mūla's subject āhopuruṣikā'…'

iti āhopuruṣikā — such self-conceit; jayati — triumphs.
Viśvanātha closes: 'such is the self-conceit that triumphs.' The quoted boast — 'I alone am the best, no one equals me' — is exactly the āhopuruṣikā the verse crowns with jayati. That heroic swagger of the devotee, offered toward Kṛṣṇa in play, is what wins the day.
