kva stanya-gandhi-vadanendur asau śiśus te
kvawhere is he? — opening the kva…kva figure of stark disproportion (where is this? where is that?) the doubled kva across L1–L2 sets two utterly mismatched things side by side, so their coming together is a marvelकहाँ — दो नितान्त असंगत वस्तुओं को आमने-सामने रखकर उनके मिलन को अद्भुत बना देता है
stanya-gandhi-vadana-induḥwhose moon-of-a-face still smells faintly of mother's milk gandhi (not gandha) is the compound-final form meaning 'a slight smell of' — see Jīva's grammatical noteजिसके मुख से अभी स्तनपान (दूध) की हल्की-सी गन्ध आती है, ऐसा चन्द्रमुख (शिशु)
asau śiśuḥ tethis little child of yours (Nanda's)तुम्हारा यह (छोटा-सा) शिशु
asau te śiśuḥ — this baby of yours; stanya-gandhi-vadana-induḥ — whose moon-face still smells faintly of breast-milk; kva — where is he?
kva — कहाँ; stanya-gandhi-vadana-induḥ — दूध की गन्धवाला चन्द्रमुख शिशु; asau śiśuḥ te — तुम्हारा यह शिशु
Yaśodā speaks to Nanda in wonder. Where is this baby of yours, whose little moon-face still smells of mother's milk?
कहाँ तो तुम्हारा यह नन्हा शिशु, जिसके मुख से अभी दूध की हल्की गन्ध आती है और जो चन्द्रमा-सा कोमल है।
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) of adbhuta-bhakti-rasa, the rasa of wonder — Uttara-vibhāga, laharī 2. The lead-in yathā vā ("or, as in this") marks it as a further example. The whole verse is spoken by Yaśodā to Nanda, marveling that their milk-smelling infant has lifted Govardhana.

Why gandhi and not gandha? At the end of a compound, when the sense is 'a little,' Sanskrit adds the final 'i' suffix. So stanya-gandhi means 'faintly smelling of milk' — underscoring that he is only a tiny infant.
यहाँ 'थोड़ी-सी गन्ध' के अर्थ में समासान्त 'इत्' प्रत्यय लगता है, इसीलिए 'गन्धि' रूप बनता है।
A Pāṇinian samāsānta rule (cf. 5.4.135–136): the word gandha takes a compound-final suffix and becomes gandhi in the sense 'a slight smell of.' The grammar itself is what carries the point that the child is newborn-small.
यह एक पाणिनीय समासान्त विधान है (तुलना — ५.४.१३५–१३६): 'गन्ध' शब्द को समास के अन्त में यह प्रत्यय लगकर 'थोड़ी-सी गन्धवाला' अर्थ में 'गन्धि' बन जाता है। व्याकरण ही यह भाव वहन करता है कि शिशु अभी नवजात-सा छोटा है।

acalendraḥ — the 'lord of mountains'; pūrvokta eva govardhanaḥ — is that very Govardhana already mentioned; prakṛtatvāt — because it is the one under discussion. kandukitaṁ tam adriṁ kurvan — 'making that mountain a ball'; mudaṁ vahati — 'he feels joy'; iti vā pāṭhaḥ — so runs an alternative reading.
acalendraḥ — अचलेन्द्र; pūrvokta eva govardhanaḥ — पूर्वोक्त गोवर्धन ही; prakṛtatvāt — प्रकृत होने से; kandukitaṁ tam adriṁ kurvan — उस पर्वत को गेंद बनाते हुए; mudaṁ vahati — आनन्दित होता है; iti vā pāṭhaḥ — ऐसा वैकल्पिक पाठ भी
The 'lord of mountains' (acalendra) is simply the Govardhana already named — it is the mountain the whole passage is about. Jīva then records a variant reading of the line: instead of 'he shines as if playing,' some manuscripts read 'making that mountain into a ball, he feels delight.' Both readings are left standing.
'अचलेन्द्र' वही पूर्वोक्त गोवर्धन है, क्योंकि यहाँ वही प्रसंगप्राप्त है। एक वैकल्पिक पाठ यह भी है कि (शिशु) उस पर्वत को गेंद बनाते हुए आनन्दित होता है।
