anubhāvāḥ — अनुभाव; tu — परन्तु; kathitāḥ — कहे गए हैं; dṛg-natekṣā-smitādayaḥ — झुकी दृष्टि से देखना, मुस्कान आदि।
Now the anubhāvas. These are the outward signs — the body's own giveaways of the love inside. Here they are said to be a look with lowered eyes, a smile, and others of that sort. The list is left open with 'and the rest'.
अनुभाव ये कहे गए हैं — आँखें झुकाकर देखना, मुस्कराना, इत्यादि। 'आदि' शब्द से समझ लें कि गिनती यहीं समाप्त नहीं होती; ये तो उदाहरण मात्र हैं।

Kṛṣṇa's sidelong glance keeps rippling. That rippling is the Yamunā — the dark daughter of the sun. Where it meets the other river, the waters are braided together like the confluence at Prayāga. This whole line is one long description; the thing described comes in the next line.

An udāharaṇa of the anubhāvas just listed in line 1 — the sidelong glance (dṛg-natekṣā) and the smile (smita). Quoted from Lalita-mādhava 1.14, as the lead-in states. The verse works the two anubhāvas into a single picture: glance and smile become two rivers meeting.
यह पंक्ति १ में गिनाए गए अनुभावों का उदाहरण है — कटाक्ष (झुकी दृष्टि से देखना) और मुस्कान। लीड-इन के अनुसार यह ललित-माधव १.१४ से उद्धृत है। श्लोक दोनों अनुभावों को एक ही चित्र में बाँध देता है — कटाक्ष और मुस्कान दो नदियाँ बनकर मिलती हैं।

Jīva starts with one word: apāṅga. Strictly it means the outer corner of the eye. He says that here it names the region beside the corner too. He gives a parallel word, śitāpāṅga, and the lexicon line that defines apāṅga; even there, he says, the word can be stretched to cover the adjoining area. Why he needs this will come out in a moment: the verse wants a whole river of waves there, and a corner-point is too small for that.
'कृष्णापाङ्ग' में 'अपाङ्ग' शब्द केवल नेत्र के कोने का नहीं, उसके आसपास के प्रदेश का भी वाचक है। जैसे 'शितापाङ्ग' शब्द में होता है। 'अपाङ्ग दोनों नेत्रों के अस्तौ हैं' — इस कोशवचन में भी शब्द को उस समीपवर्ती प्रदेश तक ले जाया जा सकता है।
The lexicon line is normally cited as apāṅgau netrayor antau, 'the two apāṅgas are the two outer ends of the eyes'. The text printed here reads astau. The decode keeps the printed reading and leaves the slot open.
यह कोशपंक्ति साधारणतः 'अपाङ्गौ नेत्रयोरन्तौ' रूप में उद्धृत होती है, अर्थात् 'अपाङ्ग दोनों नेत्रों के बाहरी छोर हैं'। यहाँ छपे पाठ में 'अस्तौ' है। यह विवरण छपे पाठ को ही रखता है और वह स्थान खुला छोड़ देता है।

Here is his reason. What lies just outside the eye still counts as part of the eye in ordinary speech. So a word for the eye's corner reaches the skin beside it.
नेत्र का बाहरी भाग यों तो बाहर ही है। फिर भी वह नेत्र के अन्तर्गत ही गिना जाता है। इसी कारण शब्द वहाँ तक फैल जाता है।

taraṅgitā iti tu — but the word taraṅgita; kyaṅ-artha-kvib-anta-dhātoḥ — from a root ending in kvip with the sense of kyaṅ; bhāve — in the sense of the action; niṣṭhā — is the -ta form.
taraṅgitā iti tu — 'तरङ्गित' यह पद तो; kyaṅ-artha-kvib-anta-dhātoḥ — क्यङ् के अर्थ में क्विप्-अन्त धातु से; bhāve — भाव में; niṣṭhā — निष्ठा।
One grammatical note. Taraṅgita is not 'waved' or 'a thing that was waved'. It is the -ta form used for the action itself: 'the rippling'. The root behind it is made from the noun taraṅga, 'wave', and means 'to behave like a wave'. So the compound says: the rippling of Kṛṣṇa's glance — and that rippling is the river.
'तरङ्गित' शब्द में रूपक की बात नहीं, व्याकरण की बात है। यह क्यङ् के अर्थवाले क्विप्-अन्त धातु से भाव में लगी निष्ठा है। इसलिए वह लहराने की क्रिया को ही नाम देता है।
kyaṅ is the suffix that turns a noun into a verb meaning 'behaves like X'; kvip is the zero suffix that leaves the derived root with no visible marker. bhāve niṣṭhā is the -ta participle used to name the act, as gata- can mean 'the going'.

He asks his own question: what kind of current is it? Answer: Kṛṣṇa's glance is the Yamunā, waves and all. Where she meets the Gaṅgā of the smile, the water becomes a triveṇī — the braid of three rivers, as at Prayāga. Drink that water and you have drunk nectar. Then he glosses the two hard words: krāntvā is simply crossing over the seven worlds, and 'the topmost of all' is Vaikuṇṭha. Having drunk, we cross, and we are seated there.

vayaṁ kathaṁ-bhūtāḥ ?
Now the fourth line, attached to 'we'. They saw how sweet it was where the two rivers met. That seeing left a snow of satisfaction in the heart — and snow here means cool water, made of joy. A drop of a dip in that water was enough. Every kind of burning that had been rising in them was licked away, wiped out. That is the condition of the 'we' who then cross the seven worlds.
हम कैसे हैं? कटाक्षरूपा यमुना और मुस्कानरूपा गंगा के मिलन की माधुरी देखकर अन्तःकरण में सन्तोषरूपी हिम उत्पन्न हुआ, अर्थात् आनन्दरूप शीतल जल। उसमें थोड़ा-सा स्नान करते ही नाना प्रकार के उठते हुए ताप नष्ट हो गए। ऐसे हैं हम।
