kaṁsāriḥ kaṁsasya ariḥ |
kaṁsasya ariḥmeans the enemy of Kaṁsa the compound unpacked as a genitive tatpuruṣaकंस का शत्रु — षष्ठी-तत्पुरुष के रूप में समास का विग्रह
kaṁsāriḥ — the word kaṁsāri; kaṁsasya ariḥ — means the enemy of Kaṁsa
First the plain unpacking: kaṁsāri is 'Kaṁsa's enemy'. Viśvanātha takes the compound apart before he uses the name to build his problem.

ari-bhāvena saṁsāra-nāśako’pi svayaṁ saṁsāra-vāsanayā baddha iti virodhābhāsaḥ |
ari-bhāvenabecause he is an enemy — being an enemy is what makes him do it instrumental of cause; it carries the whole force of the problemक्योंकि वे शत्रु-भाव वाले हैं — इसी करण में सारी आपत्ति का बल है
saṁsāra-nāśakaḥhe is the one who destroys saṁsāra, worldly bondageसंसार का नाश करने वाले
apiand yet, even soतो भी, होते हुए भी
svayamhe himself, the very same oneस्वयं, अपने आप — दूसरा कोई नहीं, वे ही
saṁsāra-vāsanayāby the longing that belongs to worldly life instrumental of the binding agent — what does the tyingसंसार-वासना के द्वारा — जो बाँधती है, वह यही है
virodha-ābhāsaḥit looks like a flat contradictionविरोध का आभास — विरोध जैसा दीखता है
ari-bhāvena — because he is an enemy; saṁsāra-nāśakaḥ — he destroys worldly bondage; api — and yet; svayam — he himself; saṁsāra-vāsanayā — by the longing of worldly life; baddhaḥ — is tied up; iti — put that way; virodha-ābhāsaḥ — it looks like a contradiction
Viśvanātha now sharpens the problem. Being an enemy is his job: as Kaṁsa's enemy he destroys saṁsāra. But the verse says the same person is himself tied by saṁsāra-vāsanā. The destroyer of bondage is in bondage. Said flatly, that is a contradiction.
virodhābhāsa — literally 'the look of a contradiction'. It is a named figure of speech in Sanskrit poetics: a statement that sounds self-cancelling on the surface and resolves once a word is read correctly. Calling it ābhāsa, 'the look of', already signals that the contradiction is only apparent.

Here is the resolution. Read saṁsāra as sam-sāra, 'wholly essence', and the picture changes completely. The chain is Rādhā's, and it is made of prema. What ties it is Kṛṣṇa's own longing — svasya — a longing made of what is most essential, not of worldly life. So it is that Rādhā he sets in his heart. Nothing binds the destroyer of bondage except his own love; the contradiction is gone.
Viśvanātha and Jīva reach the same split, sam-sāra, by different routes: Jīva simply states the reading, while Viśvanātha first raises the contradiction and then uses the split to answer it. Viśvanātha also locates the vāsanā in Kṛṣṇa himself (svasya) and makes the chain prema-maya.
