nayanayoḥ stanayor api yugmataḥ
nayanayoḥfrom her two eyes dual; it hangs on yugmataḥ at the end of the line, so 'of the pair of eyes' = 'from that pair'दोनों नेत्रों का — यह द्विवचन पंक्ति के अन्त में आने वाले 'युग्मतः' से जुड़ता है, इसलिए अर्थ हुआ 'नेत्र-युगल से'
stanayoḥand from her two breasts dual, joined to nayanayoḥ under the same yugmataḥऔर दोनों स्तनों का — यह भी उसी 'युग्मतः' के नीचे नेत्रों के साथ जुड़ जाता है, अर्थात् 'स्तन-युगल से'
apias well — the breasts no less than the eyesभी — नेत्रों के साथ स्तनों को भी जोड़ देता है
yugmataḥout of the pair — this is where the flow starts the -tas suffix does the work of an ablative, 'from'; Viśvanātha supplies the word twice, nayana-yugmataḥ and stana-yugmataḥयुगल से — 'तस्' प्रत्यय यहाँ पञ्चमी का काम करता है, 'से'; विश्वनाथ इस एक ही शब्द को दो बार लगाते हैं — नयन-युग्मतः और स्तन-युग्मतः
nayanayoḥ yugmataḥ — from the pair of her eyes; stanayoḥ api yugmataḥ — and from the pair of her breasts as well
nayanayoḥ — दोनों नेत्रों का; stanayoḥ — दोनों स्तनों का; api — भी; yugmataḥ — युगल से (नेत्र-युगल से और स्तन-युगल से)
Start with where it comes from. Out of the pair of her eyes. And out of the pair of her breasts too. Four springs, and all four are running.
दोनों नेत्रों के युगल से, और दोनों स्तनों के युगल से भी। एक ही 'युग्मतः' शब्द दोनों जोड़ों पर लग जाता है। 'तस्' प्रत्यय 'से' का अर्थ देता है, अतः धाराएँ इन्हीं दो युगलों से बहती हैं।
An udāharaṇa of tuṣṭi, satisfaction — the second illustration under the heading set at 3.4.74, quoted here with yathā vā, 'or again', from Lalita-mādhava 10.14.
यह तुष्टि का उदाहरण है — ३.४.७४ में रखे गए शीर्षक के अन्तर्गत दूसरा दृष्टान्त, जो 'यथा वा' (अथवा फिर) कहकर ललित-माधव १०.१४ से उद्धृत किया गया है।

paripatadbhir asau payasāṁ jharaiḥ |
paripatadbhiḥpouring down and down, all over present participle agreeing with jharaiḥ; pari- spreads the falling out in every direction, and the participle keeps it going on nowचारों ओर गिरती हुई — वर्तमान कृदन्त, जो 'झरैः' का विशेषण है; 'परि' उपसर्ग गिरने को सब दिशाओं में फैला देता है और कृदन्त उसे अभी चलता हुआ दिखाता है
asaushe there — the woman the verse is pointing at nominative feminine; it waits for gṛheśvarī in the next line to say who she isवह (स्त्री) — प्रथमा स्त्रीलिंग; यह कौन है, इसका उत्तर अगली पंक्ति के 'गृहेश्वरी' की प्रतीक्षा में लटका रहता है
payasāmof payas — and payas is both water and milk genitive plural with jharaiḥ; the one word covers the tears from the eyes and the milk from the breasts, which is why a single word could be used for both flowsपयों की — 'झरैः' के साथ षष्ठी बहुवचन; यही एक शब्द नेत्रों के आँसू और स्तनों के दूध — दोनों को समेट लेता है, इसीलिए दोनों प्रवाहों के लिए एक ही शब्द चल सका
jharaiḥwith cascades — and it is with these that she does what the last line says instrumental: the means of the abhiṣeka; Viśvanātha glosses jhara by jala-pravāha, a flowing streamझरनों के द्वारा — तृतीया, अभिषेक का साधन; विश्वनाथ 'झर' का अर्थ जल-प्रवाह करते हैं, अर्थात् बहती हुई धारा
asau — she there; payasāṁ jharaiḥ — with cascades of payas; paripatadbhiḥ — pouring down all over
paripatadbhiḥ — चारों ओर गिरते हुए; asau — वह; payasām — पयों के; jharaiḥ — झरनों के द्वारा
Not drops. Cascades, and they keep pouring. The word for what pours is payas. payas means water and payas means milk. From the eyes it is the water of tears; from the breasts it is milk. One word holds both, and the verse does not choose between them.
चारों ओर गिरती हुई पय की धाराओं से। 'पयस्' शब्द जल भी है और दूध भी। इसलिए नेत्रों से आँसू और स्तनों से दूध — दोनों एक ही शब्द में आ जाते हैं। 'असौ' अभी अधूरा है; वह कौन है, यह अगली पंक्ति बताएगी।
This is the śleṣa the verse is built on: payas is the pivot word. Viśvanātha, glossing jharaiḥ as jala-pravāhaiḥ, 'streams of water', takes the two flows together under the one word rather than dividing them.
यहीं वह श्लेष है जिस पर सारा श्लोक टिका है — 'पयस्' ही धुरी-शब्द है। विश्वनाथ 'झरैः' का अर्थ 'जल-प्रवाहैः' करके दोनों प्रवाहों को अलग-अलग बाँटने के बदले एक ही शब्द के भीतर साथ ले लेते हैं।

ahahaah! — the speaker breaks off in wonder at what he is watchingअहह! — विस्मय का उद्गार
vallava-rāja-gṛheśvarīthe mistress of the cowherd king's household — she is the one doing it she is named by her rank, not by her name: the queen of the house of the vallava-rāja, the king of the cowherdsगोपराज के घर की स्वामिनी — उसका नाम नहीं, पद बताया गया है: वल्लव-राज अर्थात् गोपों के राजा, उनके गृह की ईश्वरी
ahaha — ah!; vallava-rāja-gṛheśvarī — the mistress of the cowherd king's household
ahaha — अहह!; vallava-rāja-gṛheśvarī — गोपराज के घर की स्वामिनी
Ah — look at this. And note how she is named. Not by her name. By her standing: the lady of the house of the cowherd king. A king's household, a king's wife. Hold that, because the next line turns on it.
अहह! गोपों के राजा के घर की स्वामिनी। यहाँ नाम नहीं, पद कहा गया है। 'असौ' का उत्तर अब मिल गया — वही यह गृहेश्वरी है।
Viśvanātha, at 3.4.70 in this same laharī, glosses the parallel title vrajeśvarī as Yaśodā. The rank-title here is doing work of its own: it puts a royal house in place just before the verb abhiṣiñcati arrives.
इसी लहरी में ३.४.७० पर विश्वनाथ ऐसे ही पद-नाम 'व्रजेश्वरी' का अर्थ यशोदा करते हैं। यहाँ यह पद-सूचक शब्द अपना अलग काम कर रहा है — 'अभिषिञ्चति' क्रिया के आने से ठीक पहले वह एक राजगृह खड़ा कर देता है।

sva-tanayaṁ praṇayād abhiṣiñcati ||
sva-tanayaṁher own son — he is what she pours over accusative, the object of abhiṣiñcati; sva- keeps it personal, her own boy and no one else'sअपने पुत्र को — द्वितीया, 'अभिषिञ्चति' का कर्म; 'स्व' शब्द इसे निजी बना देता है — अपना ही बालक, किसी और का नहीं
praṇayātbecause she loves him — love is what makes it happen ablative of cause: not from duty, not from ritual, but out of praṇayaप्रणय के कारण — पञ्चमी हेतु में; न कर्तव्य से, न विधि से, केवल प्रणय से
abhiṣiñcatishe drenches him — and the same word means she consecrates him, pours the anointing waters over a king abhi-ṣic is the ordinary verb for bathing someone and the technical verb for abhiṣeka, royal consecration; both senses are live hereसींचती है / अभिषेक करती है — 'अभि-षिच्' किसी को नहलाने की साधारण क्रिया भी है और राज्याभिषेक की पारिभाषिक क्रिया भी; यहाँ दोनों अर्थ जीवित हैं
asau vallava-rāja-gṛheśvarī — she, the mistress of the cowherd king's household; praṇayāt — out of love; payasāṁ paripatadbhiḥ jharaiḥ — with cascades of payas pouring down; sva-tanayaṁ — her own son; abhiṣiñcati — drenches, and so anoints
sva-tanayaṁ — अपने पुत्र को; praṇayāt — प्रणय के कारण; abhiṣiñcati — सींचती है / अभिषेक करती है
And now the verb. She drenches her own son. Love is the cause — praṇayāt. But abhiṣiñcati is also the coronation word, the pouring of the waters on a king. So read it twice. A mother is soaked through with tears and milk and cannot help it. And the queen of the cowherd king's house is performing the consecration of her boy, with no pot and no priest — her own eyes and her own breasts supply the waters.
वह अपने ही पुत्र को प्रणय के कारण सींच रही है। और उसी क्रिया में अभिषेक भी सुनाई देता है — मानो राजगृह में बालक का अभिषेक हो रहा हो। दोनों अर्थ यहाँ साथ-साथ बने रहते हैं।
The two readings need each other. It is the rank-word in L3, gṛheśvarī of the vallava-rāja, that lets abhiṣiñcati sound as a consecration; and it is payas, water and milk at once, that supplies waters fit for both readings.
दोनों अर्थ एक-दूसरे के सहारे खड़े हैं। तीसरी पंक्ति का पद-शब्द — वल्लव-राज की गृहेश्वरी — ही 'अभिषिञ्चति' को अभिषेक-सा सुनाता है; और 'पयस्', जो एक साथ जल भी है और दूध भी, दोनों अर्थों के योग्य जल जुटा देता है।

A note on the text, not on the meaning. Jīva sets the two readings side by side for that one slot: vilāsinī, the cowherd king's beloved, and gṛheśvarī, the mistress of his house. He records both and does not throw either out.
जीव गोस्वामी कहते हैं — इस स्थान पर 'वल्लव-राज-विलासिनी' के बदले 'वल्लव-राज-गृहेश्वरी' ऐसा पाठान्तर भी मिलता है। बात केवल उसी एक शब्द की है।
pāṭhāntara means a variant reading in the manuscripts, not a second interpretation of the same words. The text printed here carries gṛheśvarī.
'पाठान्तर' का अर्थ है पाण्डुलिपियों में मिलने वाला दूसरा पाठ, उन्हीं शब्दों की दूसरी व्याख्या नहीं। यहाँ जो पाठ छपा है, उसमें 'गृहेश्वरी' ही है।

Viśvanātha does two small jobs. First the grammar: the verse says yugmataḥ once, and he supplies it twice — from the pair of eyes, from the pair of breasts. Then the hard word: jhara means jala-pravāha, a running stream of water. That is all he says; he leaves the line's own words to carry the rest.
विश्वनाथ पंक्ति को खोलकर कहते हैं — नेत्र-युगल से और स्तन-युगल से भी। एक ही 'युग्मतः' को वे दो बार लगा देते हैं। फिर 'झर' का अर्थ वे जल-प्रवाह करते हैं, अर्थात् बहती हुई धारा।
