yāte rāja-puraṁ harau mukha-taṭī vyākīrṇa-dhūmrālakā
yāteonce he had gone away locative absolute together with harau — it sets the whole scene: everything in the verse happens after the departureजब वे चले गए, उसके बाद — 'हरौ' के साथ मिलकर यह सति-सप्तमी पूरे श्लोक का समय बाँध देती है; आगे जो कुछ है, वह सब उनके चले जाने के बाद का है
rāja-puramto the king's city accusative of goal with yāte; the verse does not name the cityराजनगर की ओर — जाने का गन्तव्य; कौन-सा नगर, यह श्लोक नाम लेकर नहीं कहता
mukha-taṭī vyākīrṇa-dhūmrālakāshe whose smoke-gray locks lie scattered loose over the slopes of her face read as one bahuvrīhi describing her, the compound running across the word-break; dhūmra, 'smoke-colored', tells you the hair is dust-dulled and unkemptजिसके मुख के तटों पर धूम्रवर्ण केश बिखरे पड़े हैं — पद-भेद के आर-पार चलकर यह सब एक ही बहुव्रीहि बनता है और उसी का वर्णन करता है; 'धूम्र' कहने से जान पड़ता है कि बाल धूल से मैले और बिना सँवारे हैं
harau — Hari, Kṛṣṇa; rāja-puram — to the king's city; yāte — once he had gone; [asau] mukha-taṭī-vyākīrṇa-dhūmrālakā — she whose smoke-gray locks lie scattered over the slopes of her face
Kṛṣṇa has gone away to the king's city. Since then, look at her. Her hair hangs loose and scattered down the sides of her face, dulled gray like smoke.
An udāharaṇa introduced by the lead-in yathā vā, "or again, as in" — a second illustration of viyoga, separation, in vatsala-bhakti-rasa, continuing from 3.4.62.

hā putra putra iti"Alas, my son! my son!" — those are her words iti closes the quotation and hangs on krośantī in the next line'हा पुत्र!

asau — that woman there; goṣṭha-mahī-mahendra-mahiṣī — queen of the great king of the cowherd land; kṣīṇā — wasted away; hā putra putra iti — "Alas, my son, my son!"

She is wasted away to nothing. And this is the queen of the great king of the cowherd land — Viśvanātha identifies that king as Nanda, so this is his queen. "Alas, my son! My son!" — that is all she says.
The pile-up goṣṭha-mahī-mahendra-mahiṣī does argument work: the highest lady of Vraja is the one lying in the dust. Vatsala-rasa is being shown at its most exalted point and its most broken at once.

Viśvanātha settles two words. The great king of the cowherd land is Nanda, so the woman described is Nanda's queen. And kaṣṭāt means out of pain — she beats her breast because the distress is unbearable.
