jita-candra-parāga-candrikā
jita-beaten, outdone — whatever gets named after this word has been surpassed by the thing the verse is really praising first member of a long bahuvrīhi that runs all the way to śriyam in the next line; Viśvanātha unpacks it as "that by which their wealth of coolness has been beaten", and the whole compound describes śaitya-mādhurīm in line 3जिसने जीत लिया है — यह लम्बे बहुव्रीहि का पहला पद है, जो अगली पंक्ति के 'श्रियम्' तक चलता है; विश्वनाथ इसे यों खोलते हैं कि 'जिसके द्वारा उनकी शीतलता की सम्पत्ति जीत ली गयी', और पूरा समास तीसरी पंक्ति के 'शैत्य-माधुरी' का विशेषण है
candra-parāga-camphor powder — Viśvanātha glosses candra here as karpūra, camphor, so parāga is the fine dust of camphor, not moon-dustकपूर के चूर्ण की
candrikā-and moonlight — the cool white light of the moon note the two candras side by side: in candra-parāga the word means camphor (so Viśvanātha), and in candrikā it keeps its ordinary sense, the moon. The verse is playing on the same syllables twiceऔर चाँदनी की — ध्यान दें, दो 'चन्द्र' साथ-साथ खड़े हैं: 'चन्द्र-पराग' में यह शब्द कपूर है (ऐसा विश्वनाथ कहते हैं), और 'चन्द्रिका' में वही अपने साधारण अर्थ चन्द्रमा को रखे हुए है। श्लोक एक ही अक्षरों से दो बार खेल रहा है
jita — outdone; candra-parāga — camphor powder; candrikā — moonlight; [the list continues into the next line]
jita- — जिसने जीत लिया; candra-parāga- — कपूर के चूर्ण की; candrikā- — और चाँदनी की (शीतल शोभा को)
The verse opens with a list of cool things: camphor powder, moonlight. And the very first word already says what happens to them — they are beaten.
पहले पद में एक बड़ा समास आरम्भ होता है। वह गिनाता है कि किन-किन की शीतलता हार गयी। सबसे पहले दो — कपूर का चूर्ण और चाँदनी। यहाँ 'चन्द्र' का अर्थ कपूर है, और तुरन्त बाद 'चन्द्रिका' में वही शब्द चन्द्रमा बनकर लौट आता है।
An udāharaṇa of harṣa, "joy", the vyabhicāri-bhāva illustrated at 3.4.49-50 ("tatra harṣo, yathā śrī-daśame") inside vatsala-bhakti-rasa; the lead-in here is "yathā vā", "or as in", so this is a second illustration of that same joy, quoted from Vidagdha-mādhava 1.20. The verse is spoken to someone whose touch is being described — the text does not name the speaker, and the decode does not supply one.

nalada-uśīra root — Viśvanātha: nalada is uśīra, the root of a particular grass, the fragrant cooling root people weave into screens sandhi: nalada + indīvara → naladendīvaraखस की — सन्धि: नलद + इन्दीवर = नलदेन्दीवर
indīvara-and the blue lotusनीले कमल की
candana-and sandalwoodऔर चन्दन की
śriyamtheir śrī — the wealth these five have, which Viśvanātha specifies as their store of coolness; and this is exactly what has been outdone accusative feminine closing the bahuvrīhi; the whole compound agrees with śaitya-mādhurīm in line 3, so "śriyam" is not itself the object of the verbशोभा को, अर्थात् शीतलता की सम्पदा को — द्वितीया, स्त्रीलिंग, जो बहुव्रीहि को समाप्त करती है; पूरा समास तीसरी पंक्ति के 'शैत्य-माधुरीम्' से अन्वित होता है, इसलिए 'श्रियम्' स्वयं क्रिया का कर्म नहीं है
nalada — uśīra root; indīvara — blue lotus; candana — sandalwood; śriyam — the wealth [of coolness] of these, [which has been] outdone
nalada- — खस की; indīvara- — नीले कमल की; candana- — चन्दन की; śriyam — शोभा (शीतल सम्पदा) को
The list finishes: uśīra root, blue lotus, sandalwood. Five cooling things in all. What is beaten is their wealth — their coolness.
समास आगे बढ़कर तीन और शीतल वस्तुएँ जोड़ता है — खस, नीलकमल और चन्दन। इन सबकी 'श्री' अर्थात् शीतलता की सम्पदा जीत ली गयी। 'श्रियम्' यहाँ क्रिया का कर्म नहीं है; पूरा समास आगे 'शैत्य-माधुरीम्' का विशेषण बनता है।
Each of the five is a standard cooling agent of a hot Indian summer: camphor, moonlight, uśīra screens, blue lotus, sandalwood paste. The verse gathers them only in order to say they lose.
ये पाँचों भारतीय ग्रीष्म की जानी-मानी शीतल वस्तुएँ हैं — कपूर, चाँदनी, खस की टट्टी, नीलकमल और चन्दन का लेप। श्लोक इन्हें इकट्ठा ही इसलिए करता है कि कह सके — ये सब हार गयीं।

śaitya-mādhurīma sweetness of coolness — coolness that is not merely cold but sweet; this is the thing the whole first half of the verse was describing accusative, the object of vahati in the next line; the long compound of lines 1-2 describes this wordशीतलता की मधुरता को — द्वितीया, अगली पंक्ति के 'वहति' का कर्म; पहली-दूसरी पंक्ति का लम्बा समास इसी शब्द का वर्णन करता है
paritaḥ — all around; mayi — into me; śaitya-mādhurīm — that sweet coolness [described in lines 1-2]
paritaḥ — चारों ओर; mayi — मुझमें; śaitya-mādhurīm — शीतलता की मधुरता को
Now the sentence lands. All around, into me — and what comes is a sweetness of coolness. Not just cold: sweet.
अब वाक्य का कर्म सामने आता है — शीतलता की मधुरता। वह मुझमें चारों ओर फैलती है। ऊपर का सारा समास इसी मधुरता का विशेषण है।

And here is what does it: the great festival of your touch. Your touch is a festival, and it carries that sweet coolness into me, all over.
अब क्रिया और कर्ता आते हैं। तुम्हारे स्पर्श का महोत्सव ही वह है जो यह शीतल मधुरता मुझमें बहाता है।
mahotsava is the joy-word of the verse: the touch is not merely pleasant, it is kept up like a festival. That is why the verse serves as an illustration of harṣa.
'महोत्सव' इस श्लोक का हर्ष-सूचक शब्द है — स्पर्श केवल सुखद नहीं, वह उत्सव की भाँति निरन्तर बना रहता है। इसी कारण यह श्लोक हर्ष का उदाहरण बनता है।

jitā candra-parāgādīnāṁ śrīḥ śaitya-sampattiḥ yayā tāṁ śaitya-mādhurīṁ tava sparśa-mahotsavaḥ mayi vahati prāpayati |
jitāhas been beaten — he puts the verse's jita- into a full finite-style clause so the compound can be untied feminine nominative, agreeing with śrīḥ; the verse had it as the first member of a compoundजीत ली गयी — स्त्रीलिंग प्रथमा, 'श्रीः' के साथ अन्वित; श्लोक में यही शब्द समास का पहला पद था

śaitya-sampattiḥthat is, their store of coolness — he pins down which wealth is meant, since śrī could be any kind of splendour apposition to śrīḥ, standing in for itअर्थात् शीतलता की सम्पत्ति — 'श्रीः' का समानाधिकरण, उसी के स्थान पर रखा हुआ
yayāby which — this is the word that turns the compound into a bahuvrīhi: the coolness "by which" all of theirs is beaten feminine instrumental relative, answered by tām; the standard way a commentator unties a bahuvrīhiजिसके द्वारा — स्त्रीलिंग तृतीया का सम्बन्धवाची, जिसका उत्तर आगे 'ताम्' है; बहुव्रीहि को खोलने की टीकाकारों की यही रीति है
tāṁ śaitya-mādhurīṁthat very sweetness of coolness — the tām picks up the relative and shows the compound was describing this word all alongउस शीतलता की मधुरता को

mayiinto meमुझमें
vahati prāpayati"carries" here means makes it reach me — he replaces the verb with a plainer causative so no one takes vahati as mere bearing lemma followed by its gloss, the ordinary commentarial pattern'वहति' अर्थात् पहुँचाता है — पहले मूल शब्द, फिर उसका अर्थ; टीका की सामान्य पद्धति
candra-parāgādīnāṁ śrīḥ — the wealth of camphor powder and the rest; śaitya-sampattiḥ — that is, their store of coolness; yayā jitā — by which it has been beaten; tāṁ śaitya-mādhurīm — that sweetness of coolness; tava sparśa-mahotsavaḥ — the great festival of your touch; mayi vahati prāpayati — makes reach me
Viśvanātha unties the long compound. The wealth of camphor powder and the other four is their coolness, and it has been beaten — beaten by this sweet coolness of yours. So the compound is describing śaitya-mādhurī, and nothing else. Then the sentence: the great festival of your touch makes that sweet coolness reach me. He glosses vahati as prāpayati — it does not just carry it, it delivers it into me.
विश्वनाथ पहले समास को खोलते हैं। कपूर-चूर्ण आदि की जो श्री है, अर्थात् शीतलता की सम्पत्ति, वह जिसके द्वारा जीत ली गयी — उस शीतलता की मधुरता को तुम्हारे स्पर्श का महोत्सव मुझमें पहुँचाता है। 'यया… ताम्' से वे बहुव्रीहि को सुलझाते हैं, और 'वहति' का अर्थ 'प्रापयति' बताते हैं।

candraḥ karpūraḥ |
candraḥthe verse's word candra'चन्द्र' शब्द
karpūraḥmeans camphor — so candra-parāga is camphor dust, not moon-dustकपूर है
candraḥ — candra; karpūraḥ — camphor
candraḥ — 'चन्द्र' शब्द; karpūraḥ — कपूर है
Viśvanātha settles the first word of the list: candra here is camphor.
यहाँ 'चन्द्र' का अर्थ कपूर है।
candra is a standing lexical name for karpūra, camphor — both being white and cooling. Notice what this does to the verse: candra means camphor in candra-parāga, and the moon comes back one syllable later in candrikā, moonlight. The play on the same word is the verse's own, and the gloss lets both stand.

uśīra (khas / khus) is the fragrant root used for cooling screens hung in doorways and wetted in the hot season — which is why it belongs in this list of five cooling things.
उशीर (खस) वही सुगन्धित जड़ है जिससे ग्रीष्म ऋतु में द्वारों पर टट्टियाँ बनायी और जल से भिगोयी जाती हैं — इसीलिए वह इन पाँच शीतल वस्तुओं की सूची में आती है।
