anubhāva: in Sanskrit poetics, the outward act that lets a settled mood be read from outside. Here they are the plain gestures of care an elder makes toward a child, listed for vatsala-rasa.
अनुभाव काव्यशास्त्र का पारिभाषिक शब्द है — भीतर बैठे भाव को जिससे बाहर से पहचाना जा सके, वह बाहरी चेष्टा। यहाँ ये वही सीधी-सादी चेष्टाएँ हैं जो कोई बड़ा बालक के प्रति करता है, और वात्सल्य-रस के लिए गिनायी गयी हैं।
