suhṛd-gotreṣuon the friends — and gotra also means 'mountain', so at the same time: on the mountains that are his friendsसखा ही जिनका रूप है, ऐसे गोत्रों पर — 'गोत्र' अर्थात् एक ओर मित्र-मण्डली, दूसरी ओर पर्वत
līlā-rasaṁthe rasa of his play — that is what is being rained downलीला-रस को — जो बरसाया जा रहा है, वह कर्म
kṛṣṇa-mudire — when Kṛṣṇa, the dark raincloud; līlā-rasaṁ — the rasa of his play; varṣati — is raining down; ārdrāṅga-skhalad-accha-dhātuṣu — on those whose wet limbs have the clear bright pigments slipping off them; suhṛd-gotreṣu — on the friends, who are also mountains

The whole verse is built on one double reading. Kṛṣṇa is a dark raincloud pouring down the rasa of his play. What he pours it on is suhṛd-gotra — his circle of friends, and, since gotra also means 'mountain', a range of mountains. Their limbs are wet, and the bright dhātus are sliding off them: on the boys, the ochre paints on their bodies; on the mountains, the shining ore streaked down by the rain.
A second udāharaṇa of sneha — the lead-in is yathā vā, 'or again as in', following the sneha example at 3.3.111 (Bhāgavatam 10.15.18). Viśvanātha's closing sentence here quotes that same verse's phrase sneha-klinna-dhiyaḥ.
यह स्नेह का दूसरा उदाहरण है; इसकी भूमिका 'यथा वा' अर्थात् 'अथवा जैसे' से बनी है, और यह ३.३.१११ में दिए गए स्नेह के उदाहरण (श्रीमद्भागवत १०.१५.१८) के बाद आता है। विश्वनाथ यहाँ अपने अन्तिम वाक्य में उसी श्लोक का पद 'स्नेह-क्लिन्न-धियः' उद्धृत करते हैं।

While the Kṛṣṇa-cloud rains, the friend-mountains heave — ucchvasita is a loud outbreath in the friends, and a swelling in the mountains. And then a wonder shows itself. Viśvanātha reads vyaktaṁ babhūva as the main verb for the sarasvatī of the next line: she is what became manifest.

Here is the wonder. A sarasvatī that had been lying hidden up to now suddenly came out. Sarasvatī is speech, and it is also the river of that name. Speech was hidden in the throat; the river was sunk out of sight in the low ground close by. Note upakaṇṭha — 'at the throat' for the voice, 'nearby' for the river.

Jīva sets the frame first: the whole picture runs while the Kṛṣṇa-cloud is raining rasa. Then he takes the long compound apart. Wet limb; the bright things sliding off it are dhātus — gairika, red ochre, and the other minerals the boys smear on. The word being described is gotra, which he reads as 'mountain' while noting these mountains wear the form of friends. And ucchvasita he takes as breathing out loudly.
dhātu is the pivot of the śleṣa. In vaidyaka use it is a bodily constituent, in mineralogy an ore; Jīva takes the middle sense that serves both sides — mineral pigment, which is ore on a mountain and body-paint on a cowherd boy.
श्लेष की धुरी 'धातु' शब्द है। वैद्यक में यह शरीर का धातु है और खनिज-शास्त्र में खान से निकलने वाली धातु; जीव बीच का वही अर्थ लेते हैं जो दोनों पक्षों में चल जाए — खनिज रंग, जो पर्वत पर खनिज है और ग्वालबाल के अंग पर लगा रंग।

Two things at once. upakaṇṭha is 'near the throat' for the voice, and just 'close by' for the river. Then the last line: the big stream of water that never used to be in view has now come up and stays up.
'उपकण्ठ-स्थल' का अर्थ है कण्ठ के समीप; दूसरे पक्ष में — निकट के स्थान में। और जल की जो बड़ी धारा आँखों के सामने कभी नहीं थी, वही अब निरन्तर उमड़ पड़ी।
Jīva does not spell out 'tears' here; he lets nīroru-dhārā, 'great stream of water', carry both the flood on the friends' faces and the swollen river.
जीव यहाँ 'आँसू' शब्द खोलकर नहीं कहते; वे 'नीर-उरु-धारा' अर्थात् 'जल की बड़ी धारा' को ही दोनों पक्ष सँभालने देते हैं — सखाओं के मुख पर उमड़ा प्रवाह भी, और चढ़ी हुई नदी भी।

Last turn of the screw. Split the verse's sadā nīra- differently and you get sadā-nīrā, 'she who always has water' — a name of the river Karatoyā. So the closing line names a second river as well.
दूसरे पक्ष में 'सदा-नीरा' करतोया नाम की नदी का नाम है।
The pun works off the verse's sadā nīroru-dhārā: read straight it is 'always, a great stream of water'; re-cut, sadā-nīrā is a proper name.
श्लेष मूल के 'सदा नीरोरु-धारा' पर चलता है। सीधे पढ़ने पर अर्थ है 'सदा, जल की बड़ी धारा'; और पद-विभाग बदल देने पर 'सदा-नीरा' एक नदी का नाम बन जाता है।

इस प्रकार अर्थ यह हुआ कि स्नेह से जिनकी बुद्धि भीग गई थी, उन सखाओं ने ऊँचे स्वर से गान किया।
sneha-klinna-dhiyaḥ is the phrase of Bhāgavatam 10.15.18, quoted just before at 3.3.111 as the first example of sneha; Viśvanātha ties this verse back to it.
'स्नेह-क्लिन्न-धियः' श्रीमद्भागवत १०.१५.१८ का पद है, जो अभी-अभी ३.३.१११ में स्नेह के पहले उदाहरण के रूप में उद्धृत हुआ था; विश्वनाथ इस श्लोक को उसी से जोड़ देते हैं।

The whole sentence again, on the river side. The Sarasvatī had dried up and vanished into the ground close by. The cloud rains, and she shows herself. Viśvanātha adds the cause the friends-reading does not have — jalābhāvena, she was gone for want of water.
दूसरे पक्ष में 'सरस्वती' नदी है। पास के स्थान में जल न होने से वह पहले सूखकर लुप्त हो गई थी। फिर मेघ के बरसते ही वही प्रकट हो गई।

The last line. A broad flow of water that had never been in view has risen — and sadā, it does not stop. Held to the friends, that is the tears; held to the mountains, the running river.
जलों की जो बड़ी धारा आँखों के मार्ग में कभी थी ही नहीं, वही अब निरन्तर उमड़ पड़ी।
