L1example
niṣkrāmantaṁ nāgam unmathya kṛṣṇaṁ
niṣkrāmantaṁas it was coming out at him present participle, accusative, agreeing with nāgam — the attack is still in progress when Kṛṣṇa meets it.
unmathyahaving churned him up and crushed him gerund. Its doer is Kṛṣṇa, who stands here in the accusative because he is the object of the main clause — poetry allows this.
kṛṣṇaṁKṛṣṇa — and he is the one to be embraced accusative; the object not of unmathya but of pariṣvaktu-kāmaḥ in L2.
niṣkrāmantaṁ — as it was coming out; nāgam — the serpent; unmathya — having churned up and crushed; kṛṣṇaṁ — Kṛṣṇa
The serpent came at him, and Kṛṣṇa churned it up and finished it. That is the Kṛṣṇa the next line is about.
An udāharaṇa of stambha, 'being struck stiff', the first of the sāttvika signs in preyo-bhakti-rasa — the lead-in reads atha sāttvikāḥ, tatra stambho, yathā, 'now the sāttvika signs; among them stambha, as follows.'

śrīdāmāyaṁ drāk pariṣvaktu-kāmaḥ |
śrīdāmāŚrīdāmā, the friend nominative; the subject of the whole verse. Printed as śrīdāmāyaṁ by sandhi with ayaṁ.
ayaṁthis one, right here in front of you the pointing word that sets up paśya, 'look', in L4 — the speaker is showing him to someone.
drākat once, that very secondतुरन्त, उसी क्षण
pariṣvaktu-kāmaḥwanting to throw his arms around him the infinitive pariṣvaktum fused with kāma, 'wish' — a bahuvrīhi describing Śrīdāmā: 'he whose wish is to embrace'.
ayaṁ śrīdāmā — this Śrīdāmā here; drāk — at once; kṛṣṇaṁ pariṣvaktu-kāmaḥ — wanting to embrace Kṛṣṇa
This is Śrīdāmā. The moment it is over he wants to run and hug Kṛṣṇa.
The love here is sakhya — a friend's, not a servant's. He does not bow or praise; he wants to grab hold of him.

labdha-stambhau sambhramārambha-śālī
labdha-stambhauthe two that have got stambha — they have gone stiff on him accusative dual, going with bāhu-stambhau in L4. This is the first turn of the śleṣa: stambha here is the sāttvika sign, the body seizing up.
sambhramārambha-śālīhe is in the first rush of the excitement sambhrama-ārambha-śālī, nominative singular, describing Śrīdāmā — ārambha marks the very onset, the flurry just breaking over him.
sambhramārambha-śālī — he is in the first rush of excitement; labdha-stambhau — [his two arms] that have got stambha
The excitement is only just breaking over him. And already the two arms have seized up.
The verse turns on one word used twice. stambha means both the paralysis that is the sāttvika sign and a pillar of stone. Here in labdha-stambhau it is the paralysis; in bāhu-stambhau of the next line it is the pillar. Both readings stand together.

bāhu-stambhau paśya notkṣeptum īṣṭe ||
bāhu-stambhauhis two arms — two pillars, that is what they have become accusative dual, the object of utkṣeptum. The second turn of the śleṣa: stambha as pillar. Read as a plain comparison the arms are pillar-like; read against labdha-stambhau they are pillars because stambha has taken them.
paśyalook at him! imperative — the speaker is pointing Śrīdāmā out to a listener standing beside him.

utkṣeptumto lift them up infinitive depending on īṣṭe; printed notkṣeptum by sandhi with na.
īṣṭehe is able — so here, he cannot √īś in the middle voice with an infinitive means 'is able to'; with na it is a plain 'cannot'.
paśya — look!; bāhu-stambhau — his two arm-pillars; utkṣeptum — to lift up; na īṣṭe — he is not able
Look at him. He cannot lift his arms. They are two pillars, and a pillar does not rise.
The stambha is what makes the picture work. He wants the embrace more than anything, and the very force of the wanting is what locks the arms. The wish and the failure are the same event.

labdhavantau bāhu-rūpa-stambhau āliṅganārtahm utkṣeptuṁ na samartho bhavati ||
labdhavantau'the two that have got' — he unfolds labdha-stambhau this way he resolves the compound as a bahuvrīhi with an active sense, 'those two which have obtained [stambha]', rather than 'the two obtained pillars'.
bāhu-rūpa-stambhauthe two pillars that are the arms themselves bāhu-rūpa, 'having the form of arms', is slipped in so that stambha is read as pillar and the arms are the pillars — not two things but one.
āliṅganārtahmin order to embrace him for āliṅgana-artham; the printed text has the syllables transposed. It supplies the purpose the verse leaves unsaid — why he was lifting them at all.
utkṣeptuṁto lift them upऊपर उठाने में
na samartho bhavatihe is not up to it — he has no power to he replaces the verse's na īṣṭe with the everyday na samartho bhavati, so the sense 'is unable' is beyond doubt.
labdhavantau — the two that have got [stambha]; bāhu-rūpa-stambhau — the pillars that are his arms; āliṅganārtham — in order to embrace; utkṣeptuṁ — to lift up; na samartho bhavati — he is not able
Viśvanātha does three small things. He reads labdha-stambhau actively: the arms are the ones that have got the stambha. He glues stambha to bāhu — the pillars are the arms themselves. And he says out loud what the lifting was for: the embrace. So the line reads, he is not able to lift up his arm-pillars for the embrace.
