atha rūpaṁ, yathā—
alaṅkāram alaṅkṛtvā tavāṅgaṁ paṅkajekṣaṇa |
sakhīn kevalam evedaṁ dhāmnā dhīman dhinoti naḥ ||
The verse — decoded
L1example
alaṅkāram alaṅkṛtvā tavāṅgaṁ paṅkajekṣaṇa |
alaṅkāramthe ornament — the thing your body works on accusative object of alaṅkṛtvā; Jīva instead splits the next word as alam + kṛtvā and reads this with it — see his noteआभूषण को — द्वितीया, 'अलङ्कृत्वा' का कर्म; जीव गोस्वामी अगले पद को 'अलम् + कृत्वा' तोड़कर इसी के साथ जोड़ते हैं (उनकी टिप्पणी देखिए)
alaṅkṛtvāhaving ornamented it — the body decorates the decoration gerund; readable either as alaṅ-kṛtvā 'having ornamented' or, splitting, as alam kṛtvā 'having done enough / enough of doing that'सजाकर — पूर्वकालिक क्रिया; दो प्रकार पढ़ी जा सकती है: 'अलङ्-कृत्वा' अर्थात् 'अलङ्कृत करके', अथवा सन्धि तोड़कर 'अलम् कृत्वा' अर्थात् 'वह करना बस, इतना ही बहुत'
aṅgambody — this is what does the ornamentingशरीर, अङ्ग
he paṅkaja-īkṣaṇa — O lotus-eyed one; tava aṅgam — your body; alaṅkāram — the ornament; alaṅkṛtvā — having ornamented it
O lotus-eyed one, your body ornaments the ornament. The jewellery does not beautify the body; the body beautifies the jewellery. The same syllables can also be split as alam kṛtvā, 'enough of doing that' — so Jīva takes it, and Viśvanātha instead reads alaṅkāram kṛtvā as 'making itself ornamented'.
An udāharaṇa of rūpa, beauty, as an uddīpana (a kindler of the mood) in preyo-bhakti-rasa, the rasa of friendship. Viśvanātha identifies the lakṣaṇa being illustrated as the one given earlier at Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu 2.1.338: rūpa is that by which an ornament itself becomes something to be ornamented.

sakhīn kevalam evedaṁ dhāmnā dhīman dhinoti naḥ ||
sakhīnus friends — the ones it gladdensसखाओं को — द्वितीया, 'धिनोति' का कर्म
kevalam evaby nothing whatever but that — no ornament is added kevalam 'only' reinforced by eva; it restricts dhāmnā, so the splendour works entirely on its ownकेवल ही — 'केवलम्' के अर्थ को 'एव' और दृढ़ करता है; यह 'धाम्ना' का नियमन करता है, अतः कान्ति अपने बल पर ही काम करती है
idamthis body of yours, right hereयह (शरीर)
dhāmnāby its own splendour — that alone is the means instrumental of meansअपनी कान्ति के द्वारा — तृतीया, साधन
dhīmanO wise oneहे बुद्धिमान्!

naḥusहमें
he dhīman — O wise one; idam — this body; kevalam eva dhāmnā — by nothing but its own splendour; naḥ sakhīn — us, your friends; dhinoti — gladdens
O wise one, this body of yours gladdens us, your friends, by its splendour alone. Nothing is added to it. The beauty by itself is what satisfies the friends.

alaṅkāram alaṁ kṛtveti tat-karaṇenālam ity arthaḥ ||
alaṅkāram alaṁ kṛtvā itiread the verse's word as two words, alam and kṛtvā: 'having done enough with ornament' Jīva breaks alaṅkṛtvā into alam + kṛtvā; alam here is 'enough of / no need for''अलङ्कारम् अलं कृत्वा' — ऐसा पद-विच्छेद है; जीव गोस्वामी 'अलङ्कृत्वा' को 'अलम् + कृत्वा' तोड़ते हैं, और यहाँ 'अलम्' का अर्थ है 'बस, इसकी आवश्यकता नहीं'
tat-karaṇenawith the doing of that — with putting ornaments on instrumental governed by alam, the usual 'enough of X' constructionउसके करने से — तृतीया, जिसका नियमन 'अलम्' करता है; 'अलम्' के साथ तृतीया की यही सामान्य रीति है
alamenough! there is no needबस, बहुत हुआ — अर्थात् आवश्यकता नहीं
ity arthaḥthat is the senseयही अर्थ है
alaṅkāram alaṁ kṛtvā iti — the words alaṅkāram alaṁ kṛtvā; tat-karaṇena alam — enough of doing that; ity arthaḥ — that is the sense
Jīva splits the word: not alaṅkṛtvā, 'having ornamented', but alam kṛtvā, 'enough of doing it'. The sense is: enough of putting ornaments on that body. Ornamenting it is pointless.
alam + instrumental is the standard Sanskrit way of saying 'enough of that, drop it' — as in alaṁ vivādena, 'enough of arguing'.

he dhīman !O wise one!
tad evamso, taking it this wayतो इस प्रकार
aṅgamthe body — it is the one acting(तेरा) शरीर
kevalaṁ dhāmnāby its splendour and nothing elseकेवल अपनी कान्ति के द्वारा
sva-kāntyā evathat is, by its own beauty alone — this is what dhāman means here Viśvanātha's gloss on dhāmnā; eva keeps out any other meansअपनी ही छटा से — यह 'धाम्ना' पर विश्वनाथ की व्याख्या है; 'एव' किसी दूसरे साधन को हटा देता है
alaṅkāraṁ kṛtvāhaving made itself ornamented he keeps the verse's syllables as alaṅkāram + kṛtvā and takes alaṅkāram as what the body is made into, not as an ornament it puts onआभूषण को (सुन्दर) बनाकर — वे श्लोक के अक्षरों को 'अलङ्कारम् + कृत्वा' ही रखते हैं, और 'अलङ्कारम्' को वह मानते हैं जिसे शरीर बना देता है, न कि जिसे शरीर पहनता है
bhūṣitaṁ kṛtvāthat is, having made itself decoratedअर्थात् उसे भूषित करके
naḥ asmān sakhīnus — that is, us, your friendsहमें, अर्थात् हम सखाओं को
dhinoti sukhayatigladdens, that is, makes happyतृप्त करता है, अर्थात् सुखी करता है
he dhīman — O wise one; tad evam aṅgam — so this body; kevalaṁ dhāmnā sva-kāntyā eva — by its splendour, that is, by its own beauty alone; alaṅkāraṁ kṛtvā bhūṣitaṁ kṛtvā — having made itself ornamented, that is, decorated; naḥ asmān sakhīn — us, your friends; dhinoti sukhayati — gladdens, makes happy
he dhīman !
Viśvanātha reads it straight through. O wise one, this body, decorated by nothing but its own glow, gladdens us who are its friends. He glosses dhāman as sva-kānti, the body's own beauty; alaṅkāram kṛtvā as 'made decorated'; and dhinoti as sukhayati, 'makes happy'. The body's own light is its only jewellery.

And the third canto of the Bhāgavata says the same: his body is the ornament of its own ornaments. Scripture already puts it this way, so the verse is not exaggerating.
Why cited: Bhāgavata Purāṇa 3.2.12, cited as scriptural backing that Kṛṣṇa's body beautifies its jewellery rather than the reverse — exactly the verse's claim.

vibhūṣaṇaṁ vibhūṣyaṁ syād yena tad rūpam ucyate [bha.ra.si. 2.1.338] iti pūrvoktatvāt |
vibhūṣaṇaṁ vibhūṣyaṁ syād yena'that by which an ornament itself becomes a thing needing to be ornamented' yena instrumental picks out the cause; the relative clause is the definition properजिसके कारण आभूषण स्वयं भूषित होने योग्य बन जाए — 'येन' तृतीया कारण को पकड़ती है, और यही सम्बन्ध-वाक्य ही असली लक्षण है
tad rūpam ucyate'that is what is called rūpa, beauty'वह 'रूप' कहलाता है
itiso runs the definitionऐसा (वचन)
pūrva-uktatvātbecause it was already stated earlier in this very book ablative of reason — this is why the definition is not repeated hereक्योंकि वह पहले ही कहा जा चुका है — पञ्चमी, कारण; इसीलिए यहाँ लक्षण दुबारा नहीं दोहराया गया
yena vibhūṣaṇaṁ vibhūṣyaṁ syāt — that by which an ornament becomes itself something to be ornamented; tad rūpam ucyate — that is called rūpa; iti pūrvoktatvāt — because that was stated earlier
The definition was given earlier in this book: rūpa, beauty, is that which turns an ornament into something that itself needs ornamenting. That is precisely what the verse describes, and Viśvanātha points back to it rather than restating it.
Why cited: Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu 2.1.338, Rūpa Gosvāmī's own earlier definition of rūpa — adduced to show that this verse illustrates the already-defined quality, which is why no fresh definition appears here.

tat-lakṣaṇamthe definition of that — of rūpaउसका लक्षण, अर्थात् रूप का लक्षण
na uktamhas not been statedनहीं कहा गया — कर्मवाच्य
iti jñeyamthis is to be understoodऐसा जान लेना चाहिए
atra — here; tal-lakṣaṇam — the definition of rūpa; na uktam — is not stated; iti jñeyam — this should be understood
So understand that no definition of rūpa is given here. It was already settled earlier in the book, so at this point Rūpa Gosvāmī gives only the illustration.
