jaṭhara-paṭayoḥ — udara-vastrayoḥ, of belly and garment; madhye — in between; veṇuṁ bibhrat dadhat — carrying, i.e. placing, the flute; dakṣiṇa-kukṣau — on the right flank; śobhā-aucityāt iti jñeyam — this is to be understood from what befits his beauty.

'Belly and cloth' means his stomach and his garment; the flute is wedged in between them. Viśvanātha adds that it sits on the right flank. He does not get that from a word in the verse — he gets it from what looks right on Kṛṣṇa.
Viśvanātha places the flute on the right; Jīva says only 'between belly and cloth'. Left as it stands — the two are not harmonized.

He stands at the centre, turned toward all of them at once — that is why the word 'karṇikā', the whorl of a lotus, is picked up. His own jokes keep the friends laughing. The whole crowd of heaven looks on in astonishment. Here is what astonishes them. In sacrifice, Hari takes only what has been offered with a bare mention of his name, untouched by anyone, purified by mantra — and he takes even that by merely accepting it. That same Hari, out here with the boys, is trading half-eaten food back and forth, feeding them and being fed, praising them and jeering at them.
'karṇikā' is a catchword from the fuller Bhāgavatam passage, where the boys sit in rings like petals and Kṛṣṇa at the centre like the lotus's whorl; Viśvanātha uses it to fix the sense of tiṣṭhan madhye.
