ye tu — but those who; tattvaṁ — the reality; dhyānātītaṁ — beyond meditation; kim api — indescribable; paramaṁ — supreme; jānanti — know [it].
ye tu — परन्तु जो लोग; dhyānātītaṁ — ध्यान से परे; kim api — किसी अनिर्वचनीय; paramaṁ — परम; tattvaṁ — तत्त्व को; jānanti — जानते हैं।
But those who know that supreme reality — the one no meditation can reach, some indescribable something —
परन्तु जो लोग उस परम तत्त्व को जानते हैं, जो ध्यान की पकड़ से भी परे है और जिसका नाम तक नहीं लिया जा सकता, ऐसा कोई अनिर्वचनीय है। यहाँ 'तु' शब्द से आगे एक विरोध सूचित होता है, जिसका उत्तर तीसरी पंक्ति में 'हमारे लिए तो' कहकर दिया जाएगा।
An udāharaṇa quoted from Padyāvalī 77 (via 'yathā vā'), brought into the prīti-bhakti-rasa (dāsya) laharī to illustrate the devotee's stance: he lets the jñānīs keep their formless Absolute and takes the sweet, cloud-dark, lotus-eyed Kṛṣṇa as his very own ātmā. The first half voices the knowers' object; the turn comes in L3 with 'but for us'.

for them, let that Self stay tucked in the cave of the heart as pure consciousness and nothing more. The poet is content to leave it with them.
उन ज्ञानियों के हृदय की गुहा में वह केवल शुद्ध चेतना रूप आत्मा भले ही स्थित रहे। 'रहे' कहकर विनम्रता से उस लक्ष्य को उन्हीं के हवाले कर दिया जाता है।
This is the first of the verse's two uses of ātmā. Here it names the knowers' formless inner Self — pure consciousness. Watch the same word return in L4 with a wholly different referent.
इस श्लोक में 'आत्मा' शब्द के दो प्रयोगों में यह पहला है। यहाँ यह ज्ञानियों की निराकार अन्तरात्मा को कहता है — केवल शुद्ध चेतना। ध्यान रखें कि यही शब्द चौथी पंक्ति में एक बिलकुल भिन्न अर्थ के साथ लौटेगा।

But ours — he is sweet through and through, his lotus face breaking into a smile,

The verse's headline is a śleṣa on ātmā: the very word that named colourless pure consciousness in L2 is now made to name the fully personal, cloud-dark, lotus-eyed Kṛṣṇa. Same word, opposite object — the impersonal Self swapped for one's own beloved Lord. The commentary's s3 supplies why the word can carry Kṛṣṇa.

pūrvārdhein the first half [of the verse] locative — the stretch being explained, L1-L2पूर्वार्ध में (पहली दो पंक्तियों में)
heyatva-vivakṣayābecause he means to present that reality as something to be left behind instrumental of cause — heyatva = fit-to-be-abandonedक्योंकि उसे त्याज्य (छोड़ने योग्य) दिखाने का अभिप्राय है
jñātasya apieven though it is in fact known api concedes: it really is knownयद्यपि वह ज्ञात ही है
ajñātavathe speaks of it as if it were unknown -vat = 'as if' comparisonअज्ञात के समान (मानो जाना ही न हो, इस प्रकार)
nirdeśātbecause that is how he refers to it ablative of reason — the whole clause explains the 'kim api' of L1इसलिए कि उसका निर्देश ऐसे किया गया है
pūrvārdhe — in the first half; heyatva-vivakṣayā — because he wants to present the reality as fit to be given up; jñātasya api — though it is known; ajñātavat — as if unknown; nirdeśāt — because he refers to [it so].
pūrvārdhe — पूर्वार्ध में; heyatva-vivakṣayā — त्याज्यता दिखाने के अभिप्राय से; jñātasya api — यद्यपि ज्ञात है, उसका भी; ajñātavat — अज्ञात के समान; nirdeśāt — निर्देश किए जाने के कारण।
Question: in the first half the poet calls that reality 'some indescribable something', as if nobody really knows it — yet he also says people 'know' it. Why the vagueness? Because he wants to present it as something to be left behind. So although the reality is in truth known, he deliberately refers to it as if it were unknown — the dismissive 'kim api' does that work.
पूर्वार्ध में उस तत्त्व को त्याज्य दिखाने का अभिप्राय है, इसलिए यद्यपि वह ज्ञात ही है, फिर भी उसे अज्ञात के समान करके निर्दिष्ट किया गया है। इसी से पहली पंक्ति के 'कोई अनिर्वचनीय' कहने का प्रयोजन स्पष्ट होता है।

paṅkajākṣo’yam ātmā iti parameśitṛtvāt parama-priyatvāc ca ||
paṅkajākṣo’yam ātmā itias for the words 'this lotus-eyed one is the Self' pratīka — iti quotes the phrase from L4 being justified'पङ्कजाक्षोऽयम् आत्मा' यह वाक्य (जिसका औचित्य बताया जा रहा है)
parameśitṛtvātbecause he is the supreme ruler of all ablative of cause — first ground for calling Kṛṣṇa 'ātmā'क्योंकि वे परम शासक (सबके भीतर से नियन्ता) हैं
parama-priyatvāt caand because he is the one most dear ablative + ca — the second groundऔर क्योंकि वे परम प्रिय (सबसे प्यारे) हैं
paṅkajākṣaḥ ayam ātmā iti — [the phrase] 'this lotus-eyed one is the ātmā' [holds]; parameśitṛtvāt — because he is the supreme controller; parama-priyatvāt ca — and because he is supremely dear.
paṅkajākṣo’yam ātmā iti — 'पङ्कजाक्षोऽयम् आत्मा' ऐसा कहा; parameśitṛtvāt — परम शासकत्व के कारण; parama-priyatvāt ca — और परम प्रियत्व के कारण।
Why is this lotus-eyed Kṛṣṇa fittingly called 'ātmā'? On two counts: because he is the supreme controller of everything, and because he is the one most dear. Both senses live inside the word ātmā — the inner ruler and the dearest one — so it names Kṛṣṇa here just as legitimately as it named pure consciousness in the earlier line.
'यह कमलनयन ही आत्मा है' — ऐसा इसलिए कहा गया कि वे परम शासक भी हैं और परम प्रिय भी। ये दोनों ही 'आत्मा' शब्द के लिए कृष्ण को कहने के आधार हैं।
The two grounds map onto the two standard senses of ātman — that which rules from within, and that which is dearest — so the same word can point to formless consciousness for the jñānī (L2) and to Kṛṣṇa for the devotee (L4). This is the hinge that licenses the verse's śleṣa on ātmā.
