First line of an udāharaṇa (illustrative verse, 3.2.8) picturing the two-armed Kṛṣṇa of Gokula defined just above in 3.2.7 ('gokula-vāsiṣu dvi-bhujaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ'). The verse is voiced by his servants, who close it with 'us servants' (naḥ kiṅkarān, L7).

Here Viśvanātha spells out the striking simile of verse 9. An ordinary cloud carrying lightning, he says, is not yet a full likeness of Kṛṣṇa. Give that cloud the two bright discs of the sun and the moon, and only then does it work as the comparison. Then he maps the two discs onto Kṛṣṇa's weapons: the sun does the work of his cakra (discus), and the moon does the work of his śaṅkha (conch). So the dark cloud is Kṛṣṇa's body, its lightning answers to his yellow garment, and sun and moon supply the discus and conch — the analogy holds only once all four match up.
A dṛṣṭānta (comparison) atom. The mapping: cloud = Kṛṣṇa's dark, rain-cloud body; lightning (cañcalā, from L10) = his yellow garment (piśaṅga-vāsāḥ, L8); and — this pairing is Viśvanātha's own — the sun-disc = the cakra, the moon-disc = the śaṅkha. Viśvanātha states only the sun/moon-to-weapon mapping explicitly; the cloud and lightning correspondences come from the verse's own words.
