pādābja-tulasī-gandhaḥ śaṅkha-nādo mura-dviṣaḥ |
pādābja-tulasī-gandhaḥthe scent of the tulasī that rests on his lotus feet nom., the first item of a long list that runs to the end of the second verse; pāda-abja = 'foot-lotus'चरण-कमल पर चढ़ी तुलसी की सुगन्ध — यह उस लम्बी सूची की पहली वस्तु है जो दूसरे श्लोक के अन्त तक चलती है
śaṅkha-nādaḥthe blast of his conch nom., second itemशंख का नाद — सूची की दूसरी वस्तु
mura-dviṣaḥof Kṛṣṇa, the enemy of the demon Mura — both the feet and the conch are his gen. sg., governing the two items before it, not just the nearer oneमुर दैत्य के शत्रु श्रीकृष्ण का — यह षष्ठी केवल पास वाले पद से नहीं, अपने से पहले की दोनों वस्तुओं से जुड़ती है
mura-dviṣaḥ — of Kṛṣṇa, Mura's foe; pādābja-tulasī-gandhaḥ — the scent of the tulasī on his lotus feet; śaṅkha-nādaḥ — the sound of his conch.
pādābja-tulasī-gandhaḥ — चरण-कमल की तुलसी की गन्ध; śaṅkha-nādaḥ — शंख का शब्द; mura-dviṣaḥ — मुरारि श्रीकृष्ण का (दोनों के साथ अन्वित)
The list opens with two things that come straight from Kṛṣṇa himself. The smell of the tulasī worn at his lotus feet. The sound of his conch. He is named here as Mura-dviṣ, the foe of Mura, and the genitive covers both items.
मुरारि श्रीकृष्ण के चरण-कमलों पर चढ़ी तुलसी की सुगन्ध, और उन्हीं का शंख-नाद। षष्ठी 'मुर-द्विषः' दोनों पर लगती है — गन्ध भी उन्हीं की, नाद भी उन्हीं का।
These are uddīpanas — the things that kindle the mood — for śānta-bhakti-rasa. At 3.1.19 the previous set was called asādhāraṇāḥ, 'not shared, peculiar to śānta'; this set will be called sādhāraṇāḥ, 'shared', in the last line.
ये सब उद्दीपन हैं — वे वस्तुएँ जो भाव को जगाती हैं — शान्त-भक्ति-रस के लिए। ३.१.१९ में जो पिछला समूह गिनाया गया था, उसे 'असाधारणाः' कहा गया था, अर्थात् जो केवल शान्त का ही है, किसी और के साथ बँटा नहीं; और इस समूह को अन्तिम पंक्ति में 'साधारणाः' अर्थात् बँटा हुआ कहा जाएगा।

svarāpagāthe river that comes down from heaven svar-āpagā; both commentators here take svar as 'heaven' and the whole word as the Gaṅgāस्वर्ग से बहकर आने वाली नदी — यहाँ दोनों टीकाकार 'स्वर्' को स्वर्ग मानकर इस पूरे शब्द से गंगा ही समझते हैं
puṇya-śailaḥ — a holy mountain; śubha-araṇyam — a blessed forest; siddha-kṣetram — a place of perfected ones; svar-āpagā — the river of heaven.
puṇya-śailaḥ — पुण्यमय पर्वत; śubhāraṇyam — मंगलमय वन; siddha-kṣetram — सिद्ध-क्षेत्र; svarāpagā — स्वर्ग की नदी, गंगा
Now four places. A holy mountain. A forest that is good to be in. A field where siddhas have sat. And the river that comes down from heaven. These are places, not persons — they set the mood by where you are.
पुण्य पर्वत, शुभ वन, सिद्ध-क्षेत्र और स्वर्ग की नदी गंगा। सूची यहाँ स्थानों की ओर मुड़ जाती है।

viṣayādi-kṣayiṣṇutvaṁ kālasyākhila-hāritā |

kālasyaof time — time is the one doing it gen. with the following abstract noun, i.e. 'time's carrying-off'काल का — यह षष्ठी आगे आने वाले भाववाचक पद से जुड़ती है, अर्थात् 'काल का हर ले जाना'
akhila-hāritāthat it carries off everything, leaving nothingसब कुछ हर ले जाने का स्वभाव
viṣaya-ādi-kṣayiṣṇutvam — the perishability of sense objects and the rest; kālasya akhila-hāritā — time's carrying away of everything.
viṣayādi-kṣayiṣṇutvam — विषयादि का नाशवान् होना; kālasya — काल का; akhila-hāritā — सब कुछ हर ले जाना
Two more, and these are not objects but facts. First, that the things the senses run after are all going to give out. Second, that time takes everything away. Seeing this is what turns a person toward śānta.
विषय आदि सब नष्ट हो जाने वाले हैं — यही बात उद्दीपन है। और काल सब कुछ हर ले जाता है — यह भी।

ādy uddīpanā sādhāraṇās teṣāṁ kilāśritaiḥ ||
ādy uddīpanāthese and the like are the uddīpanas — the things that kindle the mood ādyāḥ uddīpanāḥ, shortened for the metre; ādi keeps the list open — 'and so on'इत्यादि उद्दीपन — छन्द के लिए 'आद्याः उद्दीपनाः' का संक्षेप; 'आदि' से सूची खुली रह जाती है, अर्थात् 'और ऐसी ही और वस्तुएँ'
sādhāraṇāḥand they are shared, not the private property of one group the key word: it answers asādhāraṇāḥ, 'unshared', used of the earlier list at 3.1.19साधारण, अर्थात् बँटे हुए, दो पक्षों में समान — यही मुख्य शब्द है, जो ३.१.१९ की पिछली सूची के 'असाधारणाः' का उत्तर देता है
teṣāmtheirs — they belong to those whose rasa this laharī is describing gen. with sādhāraṇa: 'common to them'उनके लिए — यह षष्ठी 'साधारण' से जुड़ती है, अर्थात् 'उनके साथ समान'
kilaindeed, as is well knownनिश्चय ही
āśritaiḥheld in common with those who have taken shelter of him instr. of accompaniment, the standard construction with sādhāraṇa: 'shared by X with Y'आश्रितों के साथ — यह तृतीया साथ-सहित का अर्थ देती है, 'साधारण' के साथ यही नियत प्रयोग है: 'अमुक का अमुक के साथ बँटा हुआ'
ādyāḥ uddīpanāḥ — these and the rest are the kindlers; teṣām — theirs; āśritaiḥ — together with those who have taken shelter; sādhāraṇāḥ kila — are indeed shared.
ādy uddīpanā — इत्यादि उद्दीपन; sādhāraṇāḥ — साधारण (बँटे हुए); teṣām — उनके; kila — निश्चय ही; āśritaiḥ — आश्रितों के साथ
Now the line that ties the list together. All of these are uddīpanas. But they are shared ones: they belong to these devotees along with the āśritas, those who have taken shelter of the Lord. That is the whole point of the pair of verses — the earlier list was theirs alone, this one they hold in common with others.
ये और ऐसे ही और उद्दीपन — ये निश्चय ही उनके, आश्रितों के साथ, साधारण हैं। अर्थात् ये किसी एक के अकेले के नहीं, दोनों पक्षों में बँटे हुए हैं।

pādābja-tulasī-gandha-śaṅkha-nāda-svar-āpagāḥ — the tulasī-scent of his lotus feet, the conch-sound, and the heaven-river; ubhayeṣām — belong to both; anye — the rest; tāpasānām — belong to the ascetics; āśritaiḥ — with the āśritas, i.e. dāsa-viśeṣaiḥ saha — with a particular class of servants; sādhāraṇāḥ — shared; teṣām api bhavanti — they occur for those as well; ity arthaḥ — that is the sense.
pādābja-tulasī-gandha-śaṅkha-nāda-svarāpagā — तुलसी-गन्ध, शंख-नाद और स्वर्ग-नदी; ubhayeṣām — दोनों के; anye — शेष; tāpasānām — तापसों के; āśritaiḥ dāsa-viśeṣaiḥ saha — आश्रित विशेष दासों के साथ; sādhāraṇāḥ — साधारण; teṣām api bhavanti — उनके भी होते हैं; ity arthaḥ — यही अर्थ है
Jīva sorts the list into two piles. Three items — the tulasī-scent from the feet, the conch-sound, and the heavenly river — belong to both parties. The rest belong to the ascetics. Then he explains the verse's word āśritaiḥ: it means a particular class of servants. And sādhāraṇāḥ, 'shared', means that these things arise for those others too.
जीव गोस्वामी सूची को दो भागों में बाँटते हैं। चरण-कमल की तुलसी-गन्ध, शंख-नाद और स्वर्ग-नदी — ये दोनों पक्षों के हैं। शेष वस्तुएँ केवल तापसों की हैं। और ये आश्रित विशेष दासों के साथ साधारण हैं, अर्थात् उनके भी होते हैं — यही अर्थ है।
The word tāpasa is not an outsider's term here: at 3.1.17 the tāpasas are exactly the ones who take shelter of a digit of the moon of śānta-bhāva. Jīva sets 'both' against 'the ascetics alone', so the two parties in play are the tāpasas of śānta and the āśrita servants named in the verse.

One word needs unpacking, so Jīva takes it up on its own. In svarāpagā, svar means heaven. The river of heaven is the Gaṅgā.
उनमें 'स्वरापगा' पद के विषय में — 'स्वर्' अर्थात् स्वर्ग; उसकी नदी। तात्पर्य यह कि वह गंगा है।

Viśvanātha takes three words. Svarāpagā is the Gaṅgā. Āśritaiḥ means a particular class of servants. Sādhāraṇāḥ means it belongs to the servants too.
'स्वरापगा' अर्थात् गंगा। यह आश्रित विशेष दासों के साथ साधारण है — अर्थात् दासों के भी होती है। यही अर्थ है।
Two things to mark. Where Jīva's paraphrase kept the verse's vague teṣām, 'those', Viśvanātha names them outright: dāsānām, the servants. And his verb is singular, bhavati, not the plural the list would call for — so on the face of it he is saying this of the Gaṅgā he has just glossed, rather than of every item on the list. He does not sort the list into piles the way Jīva does.
