L1definition
mahā-śakti-vilāsātmā bhāvo’cintya-svarūpa-bhāk |
mahā-śakti-vilāsātmāits very essence is the play of the great potency bahuvrīhi describing bhāva; -ātmā = 'having … as its self'जिसका स्वरूप महाशक्ति के विलास (लीला-स्फुरण) रूप है — अर्थात् जो महाशक्ति के विलास को ही अपना आत्मा बनाए हुए है
bhāvaḥthe bhāva (the settled emotion, rati)वह भाव (रति)
acintya-svarūpa-bhākand it shares in an inconceivable nature bhāk = 'partaker of'; second bahuvrīhi on bhāvaजो अचिन्त्य स्वरूप को धारण करता है — अर्थात् जिसका स्वरूप तर्क से न सोचा जा सके ऐसा है
bhāvaḥ — the bhāva; mahā-śakti-vilāsa-ātmā — has as its very self the play of the great potency; acintya-svarūpa-bhāk — and it partakes of an inconceivable nature.
The bhāva — rati — is at its core the play of the Lord's great potency. And because of that, it has an inconceivable nature.
'mahā-śakti', the great potency, is glossed by both included commentators as the hlādinī (the Lord's pleasure potency).

yuktaḥ na hi tarkeṇa bādhitumis not fit to be knocked down by logic na hi = 'for … not'; yuktaḥ + infinitive bādhitum = 'fit to be refuted'क्योंकि यह तर्क के द्वारा बाधित किए जाने योग्य नहीं है
ayaṁ raty-ākhyaḥ — this one, named rati; na hi yuktaḥ tarkeṇa bādhitum — is indeed not fit to be refuted by dry logic.
This thing, called rati, cannot be argued away by reasoning. Logic is not the tool for it.

prāktanaiḥ api udāhṛtāwas cited even by the earlier authorities api = 'even'; instrumental of agent with the passive udāhṛtāपूर्ववर्ती (आचार्यों) के द्वारा भी उद्धृत किया गया है
eṣā bhāratādy-uktiḥ — this statement, drawn from the Bhārata and other scriptures; hi prāktanaiḥ api udāhṛtā — was, after all, quoted even by the ancients.
This principle comes from the Mahābhārata and such texts. And the old authorities themselves quoted it — so it is no novelty of ours.

ye bhāvāḥ khalu acintyāḥ — whatever realities are indeed inconceivable; tān na tarkeṇa yojayet — one should not subject them to logic.
Whatever things are inconceivable — do not try to fit them into logical argument.
Why cited: Scriptural warrant that inconceivable realities must not be judged by dry reasoning.
L4-L5 are the quoted passage that L3 pointed to, cited from the Udyama-parvan (per the lead-in 'yathoktam udyama-parvaṇi'); they are Rūpa's scriptural proof that inconceivable things lie outside logic's reach.

And whatever lies beyond material nature — that is exactly what 'inconceivable' means.
Why cited: Scriptural definition of 'inconceivable' as that which is beyond material nature — grounding the verse's claim about rati.

Jīva first raises the doubt: maybe this rati is like devotion aimed at some other god — it wouldn't rise to rasa even in a fine poet's hands, let alone without one. Rūpa answers by defining it: 'mahā-śakti' means it is the play of the hlādinī, the Lord's own pleasure potency. That is exactly why its nature is inconceivable — this rati outshines even the bliss of liberation, and it even gives joy to the Lord himself.

Jīva reads the line this way: logic can't overturn this rati. What can reach it is direct experience — but only the kind trained by the Bhāgavata and the other scriptures.

Now Jīva points to why logic can't touch it: the very next line gives the reason — this teaching from the Mahābhārata was already quoted by the old authorities.

evaṁ-vrataḥ — one so vowed; sva-priya-nāma-kīrtyā jāta-anurāgaḥ druta-cittaḥ — his attachment awakened by chanting the beloved's names, his heart melted; uccaiḥ hasati roditi rauti gāyati — loudly laughs, weeps, cries out, sings; unmāda-vat nṛtyati loka-bāhyaḥ — dances like a madman, past all convention.

Jīva quotes the Bhāgavata: the devotee, awakened to love by chanting the beloved Lord's names, his heart melting, laughs aloud, weeps, cries out, sings, and dances like one mad — heedless of what people think.

Viśvanātha reads the phrase the same way as Jīva: logic can't refute this rati; it is reachable only through experience shaped by the Bhāgavata and the other scriptures.

prāktanaiḥ api udāhṛtā itiwith the words 'cited even by the ancients''पूर्ववर्तियों ने भी इसे उद्धृत किया है' — इस वाक्य से
tarkeṇa abādhe hetum āha — he states the ground for its non-refutability by logic; prabhāsa-khaṇḍa-vacanam … prāktanaiḥ api udāhṛtā iti — the Prabhāsa-khaṇḍa statement, in the line 'quoted even by the earlier authorities'.
Viśvanātha gives the reason logic can't refute it, and names the source differently from Jīva: he calls the quoted line a statement of the Prabhāsa-khaṇḍa, which the ancients cited.
Where Jīva (s3) traces the quoted line to the Bhārata / Mahābhārata, Viśvanātha here attributes it to the Prabhāsa-khaṇḍa — the two included commentators are left to differ on its provenance.

Like Jīva, Viśvanātha identifies 'the ancients' as authoritative scripture-scholars, such as the commentators on the Śārīraka (Vedānta).

evaṁ-vrataḥ sva-priya-nāma-kīrtyā jāta-anurāgaḥ druta-cittaḥ — one so vowed, love awakened by chanting the beloved's names, heart melted; uccaiḥ hasati roditi rauti gāyati — loudly laughs, weeps, cries out, sings; unmāda-vat nṛtyati loka-bāhyaḥ — dances like a madman, past convention.
Viśvanātha quotes the same Bhāgavata verse: the devotee, love awakened by chanting the beloved's names, heart melting, laughs aloud, weeps, cries out, sings, and dances like a madman, heedless of society.
Why cited: Scriptural evidence that these 'inconceivable' devotional states are described in the Bhāgavata itself, so they cannot be refuted by logic.

alaukikāḥ — the otherworldly ones; kvacid acyuta-cintayā rudanti — sometimes weep in thought of Acyuta; kvacid dhasanti nandanti vadanti — sometimes laugh, rejoice, speak; ajaṁ nṛtyanti gāyanti anuśīlayanti — dance, sing, and serve the unborn Lord.
The second passage again: these transcendental devotees sometimes weep remembering Acyuta, sometimes laugh, rejoice, and talk; they dance, sing, and constantly cultivate the unborn Lord.
Why cited: Further Bhāgavata attestation of these extraordinary devotional moods, beyond logic's reach.

yat vastu prakṛtibhyaḥ (māyā-māyikebhyaḥ) paraṁ bhinnaṁ bhavati — whatever thing is beyond, i.e. distinct from, the prakṛtis (māyā and its products); tat acintyasya lakṣaṇaṁ svarūpaṁ bhavati — that is the defining mark, indeed the nature, of the inconceivable; iti arthaḥ — that is the sense.

Viśvanātha glosses the last line: 'the material natures' means māyā and everything made of māyā. Whatever is beyond and distinct from that is what defines the inconceivable — that is its very nature.
