prākṛta-ghaṭa-paṭādīnāṁ yathā kāraṇa-kāryatā — just as with mundane things like pot and cloth there is a real cause-effect relation; tathā nitya-padārthānāṁ rati-vibhāvādīnāṁ kārya-kāraṇatvaṁ na sambhavati — in that same way, for the eternal realities rati, vibhāva, and the rest, an effect-cause relation is not possible.
Viśvanātha explains the verse's denial. With ordinary, material objects a clay lump causes a pot, threads cause a cloth: one thing literally produces another. But rati and its vibhāvas are eternal realities, not manufactured products. So among them no such literal cause-and-effect can hold.
The analogy: the pot and cloth stand for ordinary manufactured things, where one item truly produces another; rati and the vibhāvas are placed against them as nitya, eternal, so the manufacture-model of causation does not apply. The analogy proves only that literal production is ruled out here — it is why the verse says these ingredients "give up" the words cause and effect.

ata — therefore; eṣāṁ — of these; kārya-kāraṇādi-śabda-vācyatāṁ vihāya — setting aside their being denoted by the words "effect," "cause," and so on; vibhāvādi-vyapadeśo jñeyaḥ — they are to be understood as designated "vibhāva" and the rest.
Viśvanātha draws the conclusion. Since literal cause-and-effect cannot apply, drop the words "cause" and "effect" for these ingredients. Understand them instead under the names vibhāva, anubhāva, and the rest. This is exactly the renaming the verse prescribes.
