dravatimeltsपिघलता है

tāpenaby its heat instrumental of meansताप के द्वारा
atigarīyasāwhich must be extremely intense qualifies tāpena; 'very heaviest', i.e. only the fiercest heat will doअत्यन्त प्रबल (ताप के), अर्थात् केवल सबसे तीव्र ताप से ही
svarṇaṁ — gold; bhāvāgneḥ tāpena — by the heat of bhāva's fire; atigarīyasā — extremely intense; dravati — melts.
Gold melts, but only from a very fierce heat — the fire of bhāva at its most intense. This begins the chapter's picture: different minds melt like different substances, some only under great heat.
Opens the drāvaka-bhāva typology (2.4.265-267): types of devotee-mind (citta) are ranked by how easily they melt, matched to substances — gold and lac (the hard pair), then wax, butter, nectar (the soft triad). Gold is the hardest: it yields only to the strongest heat.
L2definition

jatulac (resin)लाख
dravatvam āyāticomes to a melted stateद्रवता को प्राप्त हो जाती है (पिघल जाती है)
tāpa-leśenaby a mere trace of heat instrumental; leśa = a fraction, the opposite of L1's atigarīyasताप के लेशमात्र से (लेश = अंश, जो L1 के 'अति-गरीयस्' का उलटा है)
sarvataḥall over, through and throughसब ओर से, पूर्णतया
jatu — lac; tāpa-leśena — by a trace of heat; sarvataḥ — throughout; dravatvam āyāti — comes to melting.
Lac, by contrast, goes soft all over from just a touch of heat. So even within the 'hard' pair there is a range — gold needs a blaze, lac needs almost nothing.

komalaṁ ca — and the soft kind; tridhā eva uktaṁ — is called exactly threefold; madanaṁ — wax; navanītakam — butter (and, in L4, nectar).
The soft class is threefold: wax, butter, and — as the next line adds — nectar. Jīva will gloss madana as beeswax.

amṛtaṁ ca iti — and nectar, ending the three; atra bhāvaḥ — here bhāva; prāyaḥ — mostly; sūryātapāyate — behaves like sunshine.
Nectar completes the soft triad. For these soft minds, bhāva does not work like a fierce fire but mostly like ordinary sunshine — a mild warmth is enough.

Of the soft three, the first two — wax and butter — melt under that sun-like warmth, each to its own degree. Nectar is set apart, as the next line explains.

Nectar needs no heat at all — it is liquid by its very nature, always. So the third soft type is a mind already melted, needing no external cause.

Jīva sets up the framework: there are two matched triads of qualities — 'heaviest, deep, great' and their opposites 'lightest, shallow, minute'. He now explains what each does.

Jīva draws a clean division. The two triads (heaviest/deep/great vs their opposites) govern whether the transient emotions stir the mind or not. Hardness and softness are separate: they govern whether the sthāyi-bhāva, the standing emotion, can melt the mind or not. Then he defines the first term: 'heaviest-ness' means that even when only a small thing touches it, its inner density keeps it unmoved by any trifle.

Why only the capacity and no display? Because any display would have to come out externally, and the heaviness and its kin dam it up inside. So the emotion is real but held back.

'Minute-ness' means it takes in only a slight cause, and by just that much fully shows the matching nature. Homely example: a pond and a shallow hollow differ only in that the pond has a little depth and the hollow has none — a small difference, but that is the whole of it.
