katham — how could it be!; mayakā — by me; sutaḥ — my son; pure — into the city; anāyi — was brought.
How could my son have been brought into the city — and by my own hand! It is a father's self-reproach: I am the one who let him come here.
An udāharaṇa of vipatti, 'calamity / disaster' — the vyabhicāri-bhāva set up by the lead-in 'vipatteḥ, yathā—' in the vyabhicāri (fourth) laharī. The whole verse is spoken as one long cry of alarm; the following lines carry it out through a moon-and-Rāhu metaphor.

How was he not held back and kept safe at home! Why did I not simply stop him and keep him indoors?

aho bata — oh, alas!; danti-vidhuntudaḥ — the elephant-Rāhu; amum — [threatens] him.
Alas! this elephant is a very Rāhu — the demon who swallows the moon. Nanda casts the arena-elephant as Rāhu and his son as the moon it comes to devour.

vidhuritaṁ vidhum atra vidhitsati ||
vidhuritaṁafflicted, made to suffer predicate of vidhum; and it chimes with vidhu / vidhuntuda / vidhitsati — a deliberate wordplay on the vidhu- syllableव्यथित / पीड़ित — (विधु का विधेय; और यह 'विधु' अक्षर पर जान-बूझकर किया गया शब्द-चमत्कार है)
vidhumthe moon — that is, my moon-like son Kṛṣṇa śleṣa: vidhu = 'moon' on the surface, Kṛṣṇa underneathचन्द्रमा को — (श्लेष: ऊपर 'विधु' = चन्द्रमा, भीतर कृष्ण)
atrahere — right here in the arenaयहाँ
vidhitsatiwants to make [him] desiderative of √dhā, 'wishes to do'करना चाहता है — (√धा का सन्नन्त रूप)
danti-vidhuntudaḥ (L3) — the elephant-Rāhu; atra — here; vidhum — the moon [my son]; vidhuritaṁ — afflicted; vidhitsati — wants to make.
Right here it means to strike my moon down and leave him afflicted. The line rides on the vidhu- sound — vidhuritaṁ vidhum ... vidhitsati — the very play on 'moon' that names the danger: as Rāhu eclipses the moon, so this elephant would eclipse Kṛṣṇa.

katham anāyi iti — the words 'katham anāyi'; śrī-vrajendra-vacanam — are Nanda's speech; tat ca — and this holds; mañcānām atyuccatvena — because the platforms are very tall; dūre api darśana-sambhavāt — since seeing is possible even from afar.
Jīva assigns the verse to Nanda, the king of Vraja. And Nanda can see the scene even from a distance because the viewing-stands are built so high — so his cry from afar makes sense.

Jīva glosses the two hard words: vidhuritam is 'made to suffer,' and vidhitsati is 'wants to make [him so].'

Jīva notes a textual variant that opens with 'harir…' and says he has left it aside — a text-critical remark, not part of the meaning.

amuṁ śrī-kṛṣṇa-rūpa-vidhuṁ'him' = the moon who is Śrī Kṛṣṇa himself spells out the śleṣa: vidhu 'moon' = Kṛṣṇaइस श्रीकृष्णरूपी चन्द्रमा को — (श्लेष को खोलता है: 'विधु' चन्द्रमा = कृष्ण)

vidhitsati'vidhitsati' means'विधित्सति' अर्थात्
kartum icchatiwants to make [him so]करना चाहता है
amuṁ śrī-kṛṣṇa-rūpa-vidhuṁ — this moon who is Kṛṣṇa; tudati — torments [him]; iti vidhuntudaḥ — so 'vidhuntuda'; kuvalayāpīḍa-hasti-rūpa-rāhuḥ — the Rāhu that is the elephant Kuvalayāpīḍa; vidhuritaṁ — vidhuritam; duḥkhitaṁ — [means] distressed; vidhitsati — vidhitsati; kartum icchati — [means] wants to make.
Viśvanātha unlocks the metaphor outright: the 'moon' (vidhu) is Kṛṣṇa, and 'vidhuntuda' — 'moon-striker' — is the Rāhu here embodied as the elephant Kuvalayāpīḍa. Then, like Jīva, he glosses vidhuritam as 'distressed' and vidhitsati as 'wants to make.' So the elephant is the demon come to eclipse Nanda's moon-son.
