kim unmīlaty asre kusumaja-rajo gañjasi mudhā
kimwhy — the sakhi opens a string of teasing questions Jīva glosses this kim as katham, 'why'; not 'what'क्यों (जीव के अनुसार यहाँ 'किम्' का अर्थ 'कथम्' अर्थात् 'क्यों' है, 'क्या' नहीं)
unmīlaty asrewhen tears well up (unmīlati they open/rise; asre in the tear) locative of occasion — 'once the tears come…'
kusumaja-rajothe pollen born of the flowers (kusuma-ja flower-born, rajas dust/pollen)फूलों से उठी पराग को
kim — why; asre unmīlati — when tears well up; kusumaja-rajo — the flower-pollen; mudhā — needlessly; gañjasi — do you scold?
The sakhi teases Rādhā: your eyes fill with tears, and you needlessly scold the flower-pollen for it? As if pollen were the cause. She is naming an external excuse Rādhā hides behind.
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) of svara-bheda, the faltering/breaking of the voice — one of the eight sāttvika-bhāvas treated in the sāttvika laharī (2.3). The whole verse works up to that symptom in the final line.

kutaḥwhy, on what groundsकिसलिए, क्यों
sa-romāñce kampe — when the hair bristles and you tremble; kutaḥ — why; himam anilam — at the cold wind; ākrośasi — do you rail?
Your hair stands on end and you shiver — and you curse the cold wind for it? Why? Again she catches Rādhā blaming an outside cause for what is really love's own symptom.

And, my friend, when your thighs seize up, you turn against the walk in the woods — blaming the outing? Three times now she has offered Rādhā an alibi and knocked it down: pollen, wind, the walk.

But O Rādhā — the one symptom you cannot pin on anything outside is the break in your voice. Tears, shivering, stiff limbs you can blame on pollen, wind, the walk; a faltering voice betrays you unstopped. It declares your love-sickness outright. That voice-break is the svara-bheda this verse illustrates.

kim iti — the verse's kim; katham ity arthaḥ — means 'why' (katham).
Jīva fixes the sense of kim: here it is not 'what?' but 'why?' (katham). The questions are reproaches — 'why blame the pollen?' — not requests for information.

Jīva backs up the reading with usage: in lines like 'kiṁ viśrāmyasi…' the same kim plainly means 'why', so it means 'why' here too.

Jīva reads the vocative 'Rādhe' as itself the argument. The name Rādhā is famous for love of Kṛṣṇa; merely by naming her, the sakhi hints that the madanādhi she is denying is caused by exactly that love. So the address makes the true cause explicit.
