śaṅke premeti |
śaṅke prema itithe verse beginning 'śaṅke prema…' — Jīva flags it by its opening words before commenting pratīka: iti marks the catch-phrase quoting the mūla'शङ्के प्रेम' इस प्रकार (यह प्रतीक है)
śaṅke prema iti — [on the verse] 'śaṅke prema…'
Jīva picks up the verse by its opening words, 'śaṅke prema…', and turns to explain it.
A pratīka — the ācārya names the verse by its first words rather than requoting it in full.

munitvena — because he is a sage; prema-anumānam — prema is inferred; niścalatva-kāraṇa-ādinā — through motionlessness (a snakebite effect) and the like; tatra — there; bhujaṅga-rūpakam — the snake-metaphor is made
Because the man is a sage, his loss of control cannot be ordinary — so prema is inferred behind it. And since his motionlessness (with the other signs) is exactly what a snakebite produces, the poet figures prema as a snake.
Jīva reads niścalatva-kāraṇa as 'motionlessness [being] the cause/mark' grounding the snake image; contrast Viśvanātha's niścala-karaṇa in s2. The two are kept distinct, not merged.
