parivadatu jano yathā tathā vā
parivadatulet (them) revile, let (them) badmouth us — go aheadभले ही निन्दा करें (लोट्, 'करने दो' के अर्थ में — छूट देना)
janaḥthe people, the publicलोग (यही निन्दा करने वाले कर्ता हैं)
yathā tathā vāhowever they please — this way or that, whicheverजैसे-तैसे, चाहे जिस भी प्रकार से
janaḥ — the people; parivadatu — let them revile us; yathā tathā vā — however they please.
janaḥ — लोग; yathā tathā vā — जैसे-तैसे, चाहे जिस तरह; parivadatu — भले ही निन्दा करें।
Let people badmouth us however they like — this way or that, whatever they say.
लोग चाहे जैसे-तैसे हमारी निन्दा करें, करते रहें।
An udāharaṇa of anubhāva (the dvitīya-laharī): the outward, involuntary signs of an inner mood. This verse (Padyāvalī 73), spoken in the first person plural by devotees drunk on hari-rasa, chiefly illustrates lokānapekṣā — utter disregard for public opinion — together with viluṭhita (rolling on the ground) and nṛtya (dancing), all named as anubhāvas in 2.2.

nanu mukharo na vayaṁ vicārayāmaḥ
nanuwhy, indeed — a light challenge: 'so what?'भले ही (यों कोई कहे), फिर भी
mukharaḥthe loudmouth, the gossip nominative; the commentators split on where it attaches — Viśvanātha reads it with janaḥ of L1 (the talkative people), so it is not the object of vicārayāmaḥ.वाचाल (लोग) — विश्वनाथ इसे L1 के 'लोग' के साथ जोड़ते हैं, अतः यह विचार का कर्म नहीं
na ... vicārayāmaḥwe give it no thought, we pay no heedहम विचार नहीं करते, परवाह नहीं करते
vayamwe (for our part)हम (बहुवचन में — कहने वाले एक समूह हैं)
nanu — why indeed; mukharaḥ — the loudmouth; vayam — we; na vicārayāmaḥ — pay no heed.
nanu — भले ही; mukharaḥ — वाचाल (लोग); vayam — हम; na vicārayāmaḥ — विचार/परवाह नहीं करते।
So what if there's a gossip? We give it no thought at all.
वे वाचाल लोग जो भी कहें, हम उसकी कुछ परवाह नहीं करते।
The verb vicārayāmaḥ (first person plural, 'we') fixes the speakers as a group — Jīva leans on this vayam in his comment below.
क्रिया 'विचारयामः' उत्तम पुरुष बहुवचन ('हम') है, जिससे कहने वाले एक समूह के रूप में निश्चित होते हैं — जीव नीचे अपनी टीका में इसी 'वयम्' का आधार लेते हैं।

hari-rasa-madirā — the wine of Hari's rasa; mada-atimattā(ḥ) — (we) utterly drunk on its intoxication.
hari-rasa-madirā — हरि-रस रूपी मदिरा (के मद) से; mada-atimattā — अत्यन्त उन्मत्त होकर।
We are dead drunk on the wine of hari-rasa, the devotional mood that hits like liquor.
हरि-रस रूपी मदिरा के मद से अत्यन्त उन्मत्त होकर।
Jīva (s4) will say that because the verse says vayam ('we'), the word should be read as the plural mattāḥ, not the singular mattā.
जीव (s4 में) कहेंगे कि श्लोक में 'वयम्' ('हम') कहा गया है, इसलिए इस शब्द को एकवचन 'मत्ता' नहीं, बहुवचन 'मत्ताः' पढ़ना चाहिए।

viluṭhāmalet us roll aboutहम लोटें (भूमि पर लुढ़कें)
naṭāmalet us danceहम नाचें
nirviśāmalet us revel, let us take our fillहम आनन्द-भोग करें
bhuvi — on the ground; viluṭhāma — let us roll; naṭāma — let us dance; nirviśāma — let us revel.
bhuvi — भूमि पर; viluṭhāma — लोटें; naṭāma — नाचें; nirviśāma — भोग करें।
So let us roll on the ground, let us dance, let us drink our fill.
हम भूमि पर लोटें, नाचें और आनन्द-भोग करें।
All three verbs are 'let us…' (imperative, first person plural) — Jīva (s3) says this is the most fitting parsing. viluṭhita (rolling) and nṛtya (dancing) are themselves listed anubhāvas.
तीनों क्रियाएँ 'हम करें' (लोट्, उत्तम पुरुष बहुवचन) हैं — जीव (s3 में) कहते हैं कि यही पाठ सर्वाधिक संगत है। विलुठित (लोटना) और नृत्य (नाचना) स्वयं गिनाए गए अनुभाव हैं।

nirviśāma — भोग करें, अर्थात् bhogaṁ karavāma — हम भोग करें।
Jīva glosses nirviśāma: it means 'let us take our enjoyment'.
'निर्विशाम' का अर्थ है — हम भोग करें।

paryaṭāma iti pāṭhaḥ — but the reading 'paryaṭāma' ('let us wander'); tu saṅgataḥ — is (also) a fitting one.
paryaṭāma iti — 'पर्यटाम' ऐसा; tu — तो; pāṭhaḥ — पाठ; saṅgataḥ — संगत है।
Jīva notes a variant: in place of one of these verbs some read paryaṭāma, 'let us wander about' — and that reading fits too.
'पर्यटाम' — ऐसा पाठ भी संगत बैठता है।
A second textual reading (pāṭha), left standing as an option, not decided against.
यह एक दूसरा पाठ (पाठान्तर) है, जिसे विकल्प रूप में छोड़ दिया गया है, अस्वीकृत नहीं किया गया।

triṣu api — तीनों में भी; loṭ-uttama-puruṣa-bahu-vacanam — लोट् उत्तम-पुरुष बहुवचन (रूप); tu — तो; parama-saṅgatam — परम संगत।
Jīva: in all three verbs the best parse is the imperative 'let us…' in the first person plural — 'let us roll, let us dance, let us revel'.
तीनों क्रियाओं में लोट् उत्तम-पुरुष बहुवचन का रूप ही सबसे अधिक संगत बैठता है।
loṭ = the imperative mood; uttama-puruṣa = first person; bahu-vacana = plural. Together: 'let us [verb]'.
लोट् = आज्ञार्थ लकार; उत्तम पुरुष = 'हम' वाला रूप; बहुवचन = अनेक। तीनों मिलकर अर्थ देते हैं — 'हम (यह) करें'।

paṭhanīyamit should be readपढ़ना चाहिए
vayam iti uktatvāt — because 'we' has been said; mattāḥ iti ca paṭhanīyam — it should accordingly be read as the plural 'mattāḥ'.
vayam iti uktatvāt — 'वयम्' कहा गया इस कारण; ca — और; mattāḥ iti — 'मत्ताः' ऐसा; paṭhanīyam — पढ़ना चाहिए।
Jīva: since the verse says vayam, 'we' (plural), the word in L3 should be read as the plural mattāḥ ('intoxicated ones'), not the singular mattā.
चूँकि 'वयम्' कहा गया है, इसलिए 'मत्ताः' (बहुवचन) — ऐसा भी पढ़ना चाहिए।
uktatvāt is an ablative of reason — 'because it has been stated'. Jīva makes the number of the participle agree with the plural subject.
'उक्तत्वात्' हेतु की पञ्चमी है — 'कहा गया है इसलिए'। जीव कृदन्त के वचन को बहुवचन कर्ता से मेल कराते हैं।

mukharaḥ janaḥ — वाचाल लोग; yathā tathā — जैसे-तैसे; parivadatu — भले निन्दा करें; vayam tu — परन्तु हम तो; vicārayāmaḥ — विचार करते हैं।
Viśvanātha construes it thus: let the talkative people revile us however they wish; we, for our part, pay it no mind.
वाचाल लोग चाहे जैसे-तैसे निन्दा करें; परन्तु हम तो अपने भोग का ही विचार करते हैं।
Viśvanātha takes mukharaḥ together with janaḥ (the talkative people who revile), reading with the verse's na vayaṁ vicārayāmaḥ — 'we do not heed'.
विश्वनाथ 'मुखरः' को 'जनः' (निन्दा करने वाले वाचाल लोगों) के साथ लेते हैं, और श्लोक के 'न वयं विचारयामः' के अनुसार पढ़ते हैं — 'हम परवाह नहीं करते'।

nirviśāmathe word 'nirviśāma''निर्विशाम' अर्थात्
bhogaṁ karavāmameans 'let us take our enjoyment'हम भोग करें
yataḥ hari-rasa iti — because (of) the 'hari-rasa' line; nirviśāma — 'nirviśāma'; bhogaṁ karavāma — means 'let us enjoy'.
yataḥ hari-rasa iti — क्योंकि 'हरि-रस' आदि कहा गया; nirviśāma — निर्विशाम, अर्थात् bhogaṁ karavāma — हम भोग करें।
Viśvanātha: because we are drunk on the hari-rasa wine, nirviśāma means 'let us take our enjoyment' — the same gloss Jīva gave.
चूँकि 'हरि-रस' इत्यादि कहा गया है, इसलिए 'निर्विशाम' का अर्थ है — हम भोग करें।
yataḥ ('because') ties the reveling back to the intoxication of L3; the gloss of nirviśāma agrees with Jīva's.
'यतः' ('क्योंकि') इस भोग को L3 की उन्मत्तता से जोड़ता है; यहाँ 'निर्विशाम' का अर्थ जीव के अर्थ से मेल खाता है।

iti amaraḥso states the Amara-kośaऐसा अमरकोश (कहता है)
nirviśa upabhoge syāt — 'nir-viś' means enjoyment; iti amaraḥ — thus the Amara-kośa.
nirviśa upabhoge syāt — 'निर्विश्' उपभोग के अर्थ में; iti amaraḥ — ऐसा अमरकोश।
Viśvanātha backs the gloss with the dictionary: the Amara-kośa says the root nir-viś carries the sense of enjoyment (upabhoga).
'निर्विश्' धातु उपभोग (भोगना) के अर्थ में आती है — ऐसा अमरकोश कहता है।
Why cited: Lexical proof from the Amara-kośa that nir-viś (hence nirviśāma) means 'enjoy', securing the gloss 'let us take our enjoyment'.
क्यों उद्धृत: अमरकोश से कोशगत प्रमाण कि 'निर्विश्' (अतः 'निर्विशाम') का अर्थ 'भोगना' है, जिससे 'हम भोग करें' यह अर्थ पक्का होता है।

parivāda-arthakaḥcarries the sense of reviling, badmouthingनिन्दा के अर्थ वाली है
pari-pūrva-vada-dhātuḥ — the root vad prefixed with pari; parivāda-arthakaḥ — means 'to revile'.
pari-pūrva-vada-dhātuḥ — 'परि' पूर्वक 'वद्' धातु; parivāda-arthakaḥ — निन्दा अर्थ वाली।
Viśvanātha settles parivadatu grammatically: the root vad with the prefix pari means 'to revile, to badmouth' — so 'let them badmouth us'.
'परि' उपसर्ग के साथ 'वद्' धातु निन्दा के अर्थ में आती है।
Justifies the reading of parivadatu in L1 as 'revile', not merely 'speak'.
यह L1 के 'परिवदतु' को केवल 'बोलना' नहीं, बल्कि 'निन्दा करना' अर्थ में पढ़ने को सिद्ध करता है।
