L1definition
vyavasāyād acalanaṁ sthairyaṁ vighnākulād api ||
vyavasāyātfrom one's fixed resolve — the point one does not budge from ablative: the resolve is what the wavering would be away fromअपने निश्चय से — पंचमी; जिस दृढ़ संकल्प से डिगना कहा जा रहा है, वह यही है
acalanaṁthe not-wavering, not stirringन डिगना, न हटना
sthairyaṁis what is called sthairya (steadiness)यही स्थैर्य (धीरता) कहलाता है
vighna-ākulād apieven when thrown into disarray by obstacles api, 'even' — the obstacles do not shake itविघ्नों से व्याकुल होने पर भी — 'अपि' से यह कि बाधाएँ भी उसे नहीं डिगातीं
sthairyaṁ — is steadiness; vyavasāyāt acalanaṁ — the not-wavering from one's resolve; vighna-ākulād api — even when beset into disarray by obstacles.
Steadiness (sthairya) is not budging from one's resolve — even when obstacles crowd in and throw everything into disarray.
The lakṣaṇa (definition) of sthairya, one of Kṛṣṇa's qualities; the illustrative verse follows in L2-L3.

śive sa-śūle pratikūle api — even when Śiva, trident in hand, was hostile; śivāyāṁ niraṁśukāyāṁ ca — and Śivā and the naked one [were hostile too].
Even with Śiva standing against him, trident in hand — and Śivā and the naked goddess set against him too —
The first line of the udāharaṇa illustrating sthairya (steadiness), the quality defined in L1 (2.1.261).

bhujānthe arms (Viśvanātha: his thousand arms)भुजाओं को (कर्म)
mukundo — Mukunda; vindhyāvali-nandanasya bhujān — the arms of Vindhyāvali's son (Bāṇa); vyalunād eva — cut them clean off.
Mukunda still lopped off the arms of Vindhyāvali's son (Bāṇāsura). His resolve never wavered against all that opposition — that is his steadiness.

vighnena ākulād apieven from being thrown into disarray by an obstacle he unpacks the mūla's vighna-ākulāt as instrumental: 'made distraught by an obstacle'किसी विघ्न से व्याकुल हो जाने पर भी — मूल के 'विघ्न-आकुलात्' को वे तृतीया के रूप में खोलते हैं: विघ्न के द्वारा व्याकुल किया गया
vyavasāyād acalanaṁthe not-wavering from resolveअपने निश्चय से न डिगना
sthairyam — steadiness is; vyavasāyād acalanaṁ — non-wavering from resolve; vighnena ākulād api — even when troubled by an obstacle.
Viśvanātha reads the compound out: steadiness is not swerving from one's resolve, even when an obstacle throws one into distress.

Even against all of them, Hari cut off Bāṇa's thousand arms. Viśvanātha glosses the rare vyalunat with the plain ciccheda, 'he cut.'
