sadā-svarūpa-samprāpto māyā-kāry-vaśīkṛtaḥ ||

māyā-kāry-avaśīkṛtaḥand is never brought under the sway of māyā or of anything māyā produces the source prints "māyā-kāry-vaśīkṛtaḥ", dropping the a-privative; every commentator glosses avaśīkṛtatvam ("not subdued"), so read māyā-kārya-avaśīkṛtaḥऔर माया तथा उसके कार्यों से जो वश में नहीं किया जाता
sadā-svarūpa-samprāptaḥ — he always fully possesses his own true form; māyā-kārya-avaśīkṛtaḥ — and is not subdued by māyā or its effects
This is the quality being named. Kṛṣṇa is sadā-svarūpa-samprāpta: he never loses hold of his own true form. And he is māyā-kārya-avaśīkṛta: māyā and everything māyā makes can never bring him under control.
The lakṣaṇa (defining line) of this quality of Kṛṣṇa, item 51 in the enumeration; the illustrative verse (udāharaṇa) that follows is Bhāgavata 1.11.39.

Here Jīva gives the reason, and he does it by re-splitting the verse's word: he reads sadātma-sthaiḥ as asad-ātma-sthaiḥ. The "asat selves" are the jīvas. The guṇas take hold only in them, as their proper field. So those guṇas grip the jīvas but never grip the Lord. This is Jīva's own reading of the line.

"Sheltered in him" means: the devotees' intelligence, which rests in Kṛṣṇa alone. The mapping is exact: as that sheltered intelligence stays untainted by material things, so the Lord, present in nature, stays untainted by its guṇas. The comparison proves the one point — shelter in him keeps a thing clean — and no more.

So Jīva ties the two halves together. "Always possessing his own form" means he never wavers from his form and qualities, which are the play of his own internal potency. And that is exactly the same thing as "not being subdued by māyā's effects." The two phrases of the definition line say one thing.
