samayam ācāraṁ darśayan śikṣayan |
samayam ācāram'samaya' here means ācāra, proper conduct'समय' अर्थात् आचार (आचरण)
samayam — the word samaya; ācāram — means proper conduct; darśayan — the word 'showing'; śikṣayan — means teaching.
Jīva and Viśvanātha gloss the two key words of the verse. Samaya here means ācāra, proper conduct; and darśayan, 'showing,' means śikṣayan, 'teaching.' So Kṛṣṇa was teaching the world the proper conduct of a student.

Why cited: Cited from the Amara-kośa to license reading samaya as ācāra (conduct) here, since the word has several attested meanings.
