pūrvatra suramyāṅgatva-miśraṁ ruciratvaṁ varṇitam ity aparitoṣāt śuddhodāharaṇaṁ punar āha—yathā veti |
pūrvatrain the previous [verse]पूर्व श्लोक में
suramyāṅgatva-miśraṁ ruciratvaṁ varṇitamloveliness (ruciratva) was described, mixed with having-lovely-limbs (suramya-aṅgatva)सुरम्य-अंगत्व (सुन्दर अंगों वाला होना) से मिला हुआ रुचिरत्व वर्णित हुआ
iti aparitoṣātand so, out of dissatisfaction with that ablative of cause — iti closes the reason clauseइससे सन्तोष न होने के कारण ('iti' कारण-वाक्य को समेटता है)
śuddhodāharaṇaṁ punaḥ āhahe states again a pure example [of loveliness alone]शुद्ध उदाहरण फिर से कहते हैं
yathā vā itiwith the words 'yathā vā' ('or as in the following')'यथा वा' इस पद से (आरम्भ करके)
pūrvatra suramyāṅgatva-miśraṁ ruciratvaṁ varṇitam iti aparitoṣāt śuddha-udāharaṇaṁ punar āha — yathā vā iti.
Jīva explains why this verse is here. In the last verse, loveliness was shown but mixed in with the beauty of the limbs. Not satisfied with a mixed example, Rūpa now gives a clean one — loveliness by itself — opening with 'yathā vā'.

mukha-netra-yuga-nābhi-caraṇa-yuga-kara-yuga-rūpāṇāmwhich are the face, the pair of eyes, the navel, the pair of feet, and the pair of hands these count to eight: 1 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2मुख, दो नेत्र, नाभि, दो चरण और दो हाथ — इन आठ रूप अंगों का
upalakṣaṇāni ca etāni anyeṣām aṅgānāmand these are merely indicators (upalakṣaṇa) standing for the other limbs too ca links; upalakṣaṇa = a marker that points beyond itselfऔर ('ca' जोड़ता है) ये आठ तो शेष अंगों के भी उपलक्षण हैं
aṣṭānām mukha-netra-yuga-nābhi-caraṇa-yuga-kara-yuga-rūpāṇām; etāni ca anyeṣām aṅgānām upalakṣaṇāni.
Jīva names the eight limb-lotuses: the face, the two eyes, the navel, the two feet, and the two hands. Then he adds that these eight are not the whole list — they are upalakṣaṇa, sample limbs named to point to all the rest.
upalakṣaṇa vs viśeṣaṇa: a viśeṣaṇa is part of what the thing is (a 'blue lotus' — blue belongs to it); an upalakṣaṇa only helps you locate it and then drops away (the 'house with the crow on it' — the crow just points you there). Here the eight named limbs are upalakṣaṇa: they identify the loveliness but do not fence it in — every other limb of Kṛṣṇa is lovely in the same way.
