na kāmaye nātha tad apy ahaṁ kvacin
na kāmayeI do not desire 1st sg. pres.
nāthaO Lord (voc.)
tad apieven that — even liberation api = evenउसको भी (api = भी, अर्थात् मोक्ष तक को)
ahamIमैं
kvacitever, at any time with na = never'न' के साथ — कभी भी नहीं
nātha — O Lord; aham — I; kvacit — ever; tad api — even that; na kāmaye — do not desire.
O Lord, I do not want even that. And I never want it, not at any time. Here 'that' points ahead to liberation, which the next lines will name and reject.
kāma- ordinarily means desire in general; here kāmaye is the speaker refusing a specific prize (liberation), so it reads 'I do not ask for it as a boon.'
L2invocation
na yatra yuṣmac-caraṇāmbujāsavaḥ |
nanot — carries the 'in which there is not' with the coming asti/nāstiनहीं (आगे आने वाले अस्ति/नास्ति के साथ)
yatrain which — in which state rel. locativeजिसमें (सम्बन्धवाची सप्तमी)
yuṣmac-caraṇāmbuja-āsavaḥthe honey-nectar of your lotus feet — the sweetness of hearing your glories compound: āsava = the fermented nectar/honeyआपके चरणकमल का आसव (मधुर मकरन्द)
yatra — in which [state]; yuṣmac-caraṇāmbuja-āsavaḥ — the nectar of your lotus feet; na [asti] — is not present.
That liberation is a state in which the nectar of your lotus feet is missing. The 'nectar of the feet' is the sweetness of hearing and telling your glories. Because that sweetness is absent there, he refuses it.
āsava at home means a distilled or fermented liquor; here it names the intoxicating sweetness that streams from Kṛṣṇa's feet — his kathā, not a drink.

mahattama-antar-hṛdayāt — from deep in the heart of the greatest ones; mukha-cyutaḥ — fallen out by way of the mouth [that nectar].
This describes that nectar of the feet. It rises from deep within the heart of the greatest devotees and falls out through their mouths as speech. So the glories he craves are the ones spoken by the very greatest bhaktas.
mahattama is the superlative of mahat — 'the greatest of the great,' i.e. the topmost devotees, not merely great people.

So grant me ten thousand ears, so I can drink in that speech. This, and only this, is the boon I ask of you.
vara here is the technical 'boon' one names when a deity offers a wish; Pṛthu spends his one boon on ears for hearing kathā.

Jīva pins down the word 'that': it means liberation itself. And he explains why it is rejected — because in liberation the honey of your lotus feet is missing. He then says plainly what that honey is: the joy of hearing your fame and glories. That joy has no place in mere liberation.

He backs this with the famous Bhāgavata line: the fruit of scripture, 'joined with flowing nectar, comes from Śuka's mouth.' On that same model, he says: once this nectar becomes something I can taste, its extreme sweetness rises up. The point is that the glory reaches its full sweetness only when it passes through a pure mouth and into a fit taster.
Why cited: Cited to show, by the Bhāgavata's own image, that the glory grows sweetest when it falls from a great devotee's mouth and reaches a fit taster.

He completes the picture with a matching negative example. Map it out: the sweet water is the Lord's glory; the salty ground is the mouth of a non-Vaiṣṇava. Just as sweet water turns brackish once it sinks into salty soil, so even the Lord's own glory, when it comes out of a non-devotee's mouth, gives almost no relish. This is the reverse side of the same point — the sweetness depends on the mouth it passes through. The analogy proves the source matters; it does not say the glory itself has changed, only its taste to the hearer.
