pāratantryodbhavo yas tu proktaḥ so’buddhi-pūrvakaḥ |
pāratantrya-udbhavaḥthe [longing] that springs up because one is subject to anotherजो पराधीनता से उत्पन्न होता है
yaḥ tuthe very one which — now turning to this second kind tu marks the shift from the deliberate (buddhi-pūrva) type just treated to this oneपरन्तु जो
proktaḥwas [earlier] declared [to arise so](जो) कहा गया है
saḥthat longingवह
abuddhi-pūrvakaḥis the 'not-deliberate' kind — not preceded by any intentionबुद्धिपूर्वक नहीं (अर्थात् अनजाने में, विवश होकर हुआ)
pāratantrya-udbhavaḥ yaḥ tu proktaḥ — the longing that was declared to spring from being subject to another; saḥ abuddhi-pūrvakaḥ — that is the not-deliberate kind.
Now the second kind. The longing that rises up because one is under another's power — the one already spoken of — is called abuddhi-pūrva, 'not-deliberate.' You do not work it up on purpose; it comes over you.
abuddhi-pūrva pairs against buddhi-pūrva, the deliberate longing treated just before: there separation is courted knowingly, here it is forced on the lover by circumstances outside his control.

pāratantryamthis being-subject-to-anotherपराधीनता
anekadhāis of many kindsअनेक प्रकार की
pāratantryam — the being-subject-to-another; divya-adivya-ādi-janitam — produced by celestial, non-celestial, and other causes; anekadhā — is manifold.
This dependence takes many forms. It can be set off by a celestial power (divya), by an earthly one (adivya), or by something else again. Because the cause varies, so does the longing it triggers.
divya = 'of the celestial sphere' (fate, providence); adivya = other than that, earthly. In the example to come, fate (daiva) is the divya cause and Śaṅkhacūḍa the adivya one.

I brought you here — I, beside myself with a hundred longings, pressing and pressing until you came.
The udāharaṇa of abuddhi-pūrva vipralambha defined in 15.165: Kṛṣṇa's lament (so Viśvanātha) after Śaṅkhacūḍa carries Rādhā off. The separation is not deliberate — fate forces it on him. First he recalls how he had begged her here; then the blow falls.

parimala = fragrance, and by extension the spreading radiance of the moonlight. On śārada ('autumn' vs 'fresh'), Jīva argues at length below.

ānītāsi ity atra — here in this verse; śārada-śabdaḥ nava-vācī eva — the word śārada means only 'fresh'; nānārtha-vargāt — because the homonym-lexicon [gives] 'dvau tu śāradau pratyagra-apratibhau'.

Jīva pins down śārada. In this verse it means only 'fresh, new' — not 'autumnal.' He backs it from a homonym-dictionary: 'śārada has two senses, pratyagra (fresh) and apratibha (dull).' So śārada-pūrṇimā is the fresh full-moon, not the autumn one.
nānārtha-varga = the section of a koṣa listing words that carry several meanings. Jīva needs 'fresh' rather than 'autumn' because the Śaṅkhacūḍa episode falls at Holī (Phālguna), not in the śarat season; the next three sentences defend that dating.

His first reason. Another passage puts an ambikā-yātrā festival on Śiva-rātri — which sets the season near Phālguna. From that, the full-moon here works out to be the Holī (Phālguna) pūrṇimā, not the autumn one. So śārada must mean 'fresh,' not 'autumnal.'

His second reason. The Holī is bound up with Baladeva in the Vraja account, so to shift it to any other time would leave it flat and rasa-less. The festival belongs right here — which again fixes this as the Holī full-moon.

And 'fresh' suits the full-moon in itself: belonging to the spring season, it rises as a new, fresh moon. So on every count — dictionary, festival-timing, and season — śārada = 'fresh' holds.
navāyamāna = 'making itself new,' a denominative: the spring moon is experienced as fresh, so the word śārada (fresh) fits the thing named, not just the lexicon.

Hearing Lalitā and the others wail, 'O Kṛṣṇa! where are you?', Kṛṣṇa shot out of the grove and broke into this lament: 'ānītāsi…'

Viśvanātha unpacks the verse-compound 'śaṅkhacūḍa-kapaṭa-prāptodayena daivena.' kapaṭa means vyāja, a ruse. The whole is a bahuvrīhi: 'fate whose chance to rise was handed to it by Śaṅkhacūḍa's trick.' And daiva he reads as adṛṣṭa, the unseen force — muhuḥ, one that keeps striking unseen.

adṛṣṭa, 'the unseen,' is the standard name for ripened destiny; glossing daiva by it says the real agent behind Śaṅkhacūḍa is Kṛṣṇa's own hostile fate, working out of sight.
