śrī-jīvaḥŚrī Jīva, glossing the two hard words, notesश्रीजीव (गोस्वामी कहते हैं)
mārgaḥ vāṭaḥ pathaḥ panthāḥmārga, vāṭa, patha and panthā all mean one thing — 'road'मार्ग, वाट, पथ, पन्थाः (सब 'रास्ते' के पर्याय)
iti dharaṇiḥso lists the Dharaṇi lexicon iti closes the quoted entry; Dharaṇi(-kośa) is a Sanskrit synonym-dictionaryऐसा धरणि(कोश) में है ('इति' उद्धृत प्रविष्टि को यहाँ समेट देता है)
pāṭacaraḥ cauraḥand pāṭacara means 'thief''पाटच्चर' अर्थात् चोर
śrī-jīvaḥ — Jīva notes: mārgaḥ vāṭaḥ pathaḥ panthāḥ — mārga, vāṭa, patha, panthā [are all one word for road]; iti dharaṇiḥ — so the Dharaṇi lexicon; pāṭacaraḥ — and pāṭacara; cauraḥ — [means] thief.
śrī-jīvaḥ — श्रीजीव कहते हैं; mārgaḥ vāṭaḥ pathaḥ panthāḥ — मार्ग-वाट-पथ-पन्थाः; iti dharaṇiḥ — ऐसा धरणिकोश में; pāṭacaraḥ cauraḥ — पाटच्चर अर्थात् चोर।
Jīva pins down the two hard words in the epithet. By the Dharaṇi lexicon, vāṭa is just another word for 'road' — mārga, vāṭa, patha, panthā are all synonyms. And pāṭacara means 'thief.' So the epithet reads out as: the forest-road robber.
श्रीजीव कहते हैं — मार्ग, वाट, पथ, पन्थाः, ये सब 'रास्ते' के पर्याय हैं, ऐसा धरणिकोश में कहा है। और 'पाटच्चर' का अर्थ है चोर।
Dharaṇi — the Dharaṇi-kośa, a Sanskrit synonym-lexicon Jīva quotes for authority.
'धरणि' — धरणिकोश, एक संस्कृत पर्यायवाची शब्दकोश, जिसे जीव गोस्वामी प्रमाण के रूप में उद्धृत करते हैं।

चौर, एकागारिक, स्तेन, दस्यु, तस्कर, मोषक; तथा प्रतिरोधित, पराष्कन्दी, पाटच्चर, मलिम्लुच — ये सब 'चोर' के पर्याय हैं।
Why cited: a Sanskrit synonym-lexicon (the Amara-kośa's list of words for a thief), cited to prove pāṭacara belongs among them — so the epithet brands Kṛṣṇa a common highway-robber.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह अमरकोश में गिनाए गए 'चोर' के पर्यायवाची शब्दों की सूची है। इसे इसीलिए उद्धृत किया गया है कि सिद्ध हो — 'पाटच्चर' भी इन्हीं में गिना जाता है; अतः यह उपाधि कृष्ण को सीधे-सीधे राह लूटनेवाला डाकू ठहरा देती है।
