śrutaṁ cānumitaṁ dṛṣṭaṁ tad-vaiśiṣṭyaṁ tridhā matam ||
tad-vaiśiṣṭyaṁthat distinction [shown to the rival] — the special favor already named as the trigger of jealous māna tat points back to the vaiśiṣṭya of 15.77; here it is the object of matamउस [नायक की] विशिष्टता को (जो 15.77 वाली विशिष्टता है — मानने की क्रिया का कर्म)

matamis held to be, is reckonedमानी गई है
tad-vaiśiṣṭyaṁ — that distinction shown to the rival; śrutaṁ ca anumitaṁ dṛṣṭaṁ — heard, inferred, and seen; tridhā matam — is reckoned threefold.
The rival's special favor — the vaiśiṣṭya that stirs the heroine's jealousy — is reckoned to reach her in three ways. She may hear about it, she may infer it, or she may see it with her own eyes.
tad-vaiśiṣṭya picks up the vaiśiṣṭya of 15.77, the mark of distinction the beloved shows a rival, which was there defined as the cause of īrṣyā-māna. This verse now sorts how the heroine comes to know of it.

Take the first of the three, the 'heard' kind. It reaches her from somebody's mouth — a dear girlfriend, a pet parrot, or the like carries the news of the rival's favor to her ear.

The opening line of the udāharaṇa for the śruta ('heard') division of tad-vaiśiṣṭya defined in 15.83. Per Viśvanātha it is Vṛndā speaking to the sulking heroine Manoramā: the 'heard' distinction here is the false gossip Manoramā caught from a harsh sakhī, which threw her into jealous māna, and Vṛndā now works to console her.
