prathamam — as the first; nayana-prītiḥ — delight of the eyes; tataḥ — then; cintā-saṅgaḥ — clinging thought; atha — and next; saṅkalpaḥ — fixed resolve.
First comes nayana-prīti, the delight of the eyes: just seeing the beloved brings joy. Then thought clings — cintā-saṅga — and the mind keeps dwelling on that person. Next comes saṅkalpa, a settled resolve to win them.
The verse opens under the lead-in kecit tu, 'but some say': Rūpa presents this ten-stage list of smara-daśā (the stages of love-longing) as another authorities' scheme, set beside the schemes given earlier in the chapter.

nidrā-cchedaḥ — sleep breaks; tanutā — the body wastes; viṣaya-nivṛttiḥ — withdrawal from sense-objects; trapā-nāśaḥ — loss of shame.
The list goes on. Sleep breaks (nidrā-cheda) — the longing keeps one awake. The body wastes and grows thin (tanutā). One turns away from the senses' objects (viṣaya-nivṛtti), with no taste left for anything else. And shame is lost (trapā-nāśa) — modesty falls away.

unmādaḥ — madness; mūrcchā — fainting; mṛtiḥ — death; iti — so; etāḥ smara-daśāḥ — these stages of love; daśa eva syuḥ — are exactly ten.
Then comes unmāda, madness; mūrcchā, fainting; and mṛti, death — the last. So these stages of love (smara-daśā) are exactly ten — no more, no fewer. The eva closes the count: this scheme fixes the number at ten.
smara means Kāma, love-longing; smara-daśā are the conditions that longing passes through, here counted as ten from the first delight of the eyes down to death.
