An udāharaṇa (yathā vā) illustrating ghṛta-sneha — the 'ghee-like' love in which reverence (ādara) toward Kṛṣṇa stays alive even during amorous play; so Viśvanātha frames the whole scene.

So far, through Candrāvalī's friend's words, Rūpa stated how excellent that ghṛta-sneha is. Now, through the experience of one of Rādhā's friends, he shows that madhu-sneha stands even higher than that. He begins with 'nijam.' So Jīva reads the verse as ranking Rādhā's honey-love above Candrāvalī's ghee-love.

Vṛndā is describing Candrāvalī to Nāndīmukhī. Candrāvalī had danced in one spot in the rāsa; now Kṛṣṇa is leading her to dance in a different ring. Kṛṣṇa had laid her left arm on his shoulder. She draws it back, thinking, 'How can I put this inauspicious left arm of mine on my beloved's shoulder?' She takes it off and lays her right arm there instead. To do that she has to cross from his right side to his left — that is the only way her right arm can reach his shoulder.
The left (vāma) hand counts as inauspicious and inferior; out of reverence she will offer only the right (dakṣiṇa) arm to Kṛṣṇa — hence the whole rearrangement.
