samañjasātaḥ — away from the samañjasā love; sambhoga-spṛhāyāḥ — of the desire for union; bhinnatā — a standing-apart; yadā — when.
When the desire for union stands apart from the samañjasā love itself —
samañjasā literally means "fitting, proper, right." Here it names one grade of madhura-rati, the "legitimate" love; this verse turns to describe its lower portion, where the appetite for union splits off from the love.
'समञ्जसा' का शब्दार्थ है उचित, यथोचित, ठीक। यहाँ यह मधुर-रति के एक भेद का नाम है — वह 'न्याय्य' प्रेम। यह श्लोक उसी के निम्न अंश का वर्णन करने चला है, जहाँ सम्भोग की भूख प्रेम से टूटकर अलग हो जाती है।

sambhoga-spṛhāyāḥ pūrvavad bhāva-hāvādi-vyañjanā-mayyāḥ ||
sambhoga-spṛhāyāḥas for "the desire for union" [in the verse] picks up the mūla word to gloss itसम्भोग की स्पृहा का — (मूल का यही पद उठाकर व्याख्या)
pūrvavatunderstand it just as beforeपहले के समान
bhāva-hāvādi-vyañjanā-mayyāḥit is one made wholly of the display of the love-tokens — bhāva, hāva, and the rest genitive, agreeing with spṛhāyāḥभाव, हाव आदि की व्यञ्जना (अभिव्यक्ति) से बनी हुई — (सम्भोग-स्पृहा की विशेषता)
sambhoga-spṛhāyāḥ — the desire for union; pūrvavat — as before; bhāva-hāvādi-vyañjanā-mayyāḥ — is one consisting of the showing-forth of bhāva, hāva, and so on.
Jīva pins down "the desire for union": read it as before — it is the desire that shows itself entirely through the love-tokens, bhāva, hāva, and the rest.
bhāva and hāva are the heroine's spontaneous love-gestures, first two of the feminine ornaments (alaṅkāra) treated earlier in the work; "and the rest" gathers the others of that set.

The "(44)" is Jīva's pointer: it marks where these love-tokens were already defined — that is what his "as before" (pūrvavat) sends you back to.
Why cited: points to verse 44, the earlier place where bhāva, hāva and the rest were defined, supplying the referent of "pūrvavat."

samañjasākhya-rateḥ — of the love called samañjasā; prathamam utkṛṣṭaṁ mahāntam aṁśam udāhṛtya — having first illustrated the higher, greater portion; dvitīyam apakṛṣṭam alpam aṁśam udāhartum — in order to illustrate the second, lower, smaller portion; tasya apakarṣaṁ — its inferiority; vyācaṣṭe — he explains.
Viśvanātha frames the verse. The love called samañjasā has two portions. Rūpa has already shown the higher, greater one. Now, to take up the second — the lower, smaller portion — he explains just where it falls short.
The samañjasā ("proper, fitting") love is graded into a superior portion, where the desire for union stays fused with the love, and an inferior portion, where it splits off; this verse treats only the inferior.

samañjasātaḥ = samañjasā-rateḥ sakāśāt; sambhoga-spṛhāyāḥ — of the desire for union; yadā bhinnatā = pārthakyena pratītiḥ; tadā — then; tad-utthitaiḥ = sambhoga-spṛhotthaiḥ; bhāvaiḥ = bhāva-hāva-hela-kilkiñcitādibhiḥ; vaśyatā duṣkarā iti.
He walks through the verse word by word. "From samañjasā" = from the samañjasā love. When the desire for union is felt as something standing apart from it — then, by the emotions born of that desire (bhāva, hāva, helā, kilakiñcita and so on), subduing Hari is hard.
helā and kilakiñcita are two more of the heroine's love-ornaments; "and the rest" continues that same set named in the earlier chapters.

Why is it hard? Because of the settled teaching — one every scripture agrees on — that Hari is won by love alone, and by nothing else. Once desire pulls away from love, its emotions have lost the one thing that could subdue him. That is Rūpa's point.

He also mines the little word "when." By saying the desire stands apart only "when," Rūpa quietly points to the opposite case. In love that rises straight from one's own nature, the desire for union never stands apart at all. So there the emotions born of it subdue Hari easily. All that is gathered from the single word "when."

And so, for exactly this reason, recall the "kā tvā mukunda" cited earlier. On nothing more than a message of pure feeling, Śrī Kṛṣṇa came all the way from Dvārakā to Vidarbha. Take that coming as a plain sign that he can indeed be won over. That is how it should be understood.
