kṛṣṇa-niṣṭhaṁ svarūpaṁ syād adaityaiḥ sugamaṁ janaiḥ ||

janaiḥby [such] peopleजनों के द्वारा
svarūpaṁ — the essential form; kṛṣṇa-niṣṭhaṁ — rests on Kṛṣṇa; syāt — is; adaityaiḥ janaiḥ — by non-demonic people; sugamaṁ — easily reached.
The abiding love's essential form (svarūpa) is one that rests on Kṛṣṇa alone. And it is easily reached — but only by people who are not demonic by nature.
Defines the svarūpa (essential form) of the sthāyi-bhāva under discussion: its ground is Kṛṣṇa, and its access is limited to the non-demonic. The two commentators below unpack these two halves in turn.

The phrase 'the essential form fixed on Kṛṣṇa' was characterized earlier only in a general way. Here, inside this rasa, it has to be grasped in its specific form.

One may object: then how does love for Kṛṣṇa arise in only some people and not in all? To answer that, the verse supplies the word 'adaityaiḥ' — 'by non-demons'.

Why cited: cited to fix who the 'non-demons' are: the divine class is defined by devotion to Viṣṇu, so love for Kṛṣṇa arises in them and not in their demonic opposite.

Why cited: scriptural proof that Kṛṣṇa's form is not open to all — it stays veiled by yoga-māyā from the undeserving, so it is 'easily reached' only by the non-demonic.
'Bhagavad-upaniṣad' is a standard name for the Gītā: each chapter's colophon calls it a brahma-vidyā... upaniṣad, so 'from the Bhagavad-upaniṣads' means 'from the Gītā'.

Viśvanātha unpacks 'kṛṣṇa-niṣṭha': this essential form rests firmly on one support alone — Śrī Kṛṣṇa — and that is why it is called 'fixed on Kṛṣṇa'. It is a special reality that kindles love only in the very people who behold it.

That form is easy to reach for non-demons, but hard to reach for the demon-natured — like the sun for owls. Map it out: the sun is Kṛṣṇa's svarūpa; the owls are the demon-natured; the owl's day-blindness is their own incapacity. The sun does not hide or dim — it blazes on; the failure lies entirely in the owl's eyes. So too the fault is in the demon's own nature, never in Kṛṣṇa's form.
