What is called nisarga is a saṁskāra. It is the imprint left by practice that has been done very firmly, over and over. So nisarga is not a fresh feeling — it is a settled trace of long practice.
saṁskāra: the latent imprint a repeated act leaves in the mind, which later ripens on its own.

tad-udbodhasya hetuḥ — the cause of its awakening; guṇa-rūpa-śrutiḥ syāt — would be the hearing of the qualities and form; manāk — only slightly.
What wakes that saṁskāra back up? Hearing about Kṛṣṇa's qualities and beauty. But only a little — the word manāk holds it down to 'slightly.' The imprint does most of the work itself; the hearing just gives it a nudge.

That surviving imprint is what nisarga means.

An everyday comparison. In deep, dreamless sleep you do nothing, yet the imprints of your past good and bad deeds are not lost — they sit there ready to act again on waking. Deep sleep stands for the gap of forgetting across births; the surviving deed-imprints stand for the surviving love-imprint, nisarga. The point the analogy proves: an imprint can persist even while wholly inactive.

So here is what 'slightly' comes to. The sweet love is lying there as an imprint. When it wakes up and starts to grow again, does hearing Kṛṣṇa's qualities and beauty cause that? Only a little. It is not really required. The imprint would revive anyway; the hearing is a minor, dispensable helper. That is why the verse says manāk.

Why must the hearing be kept down to 'slight'? Because the accepted general definition says sweet love needs no outside cause. If hearing were a full-blown cause, that definition would break — it would no longer cover this case, the fault of avyāpti. To protect the definition, the hearing has to stay a minor, dispensable factor.

avyāpti (Nyāya): a fault in a definition where it fails to reach all the instances it should cover — the opposite of ativyāpti (over-reach). Kept because it is a logician's technical term.

Now the causality flips. It is the imprint that, through the līlā-śakti, sets up the very hearing of Kṛṣṇa's form and qualities in the first place. So the hearing does not produce the love; the love-imprint arranges the hearing. The inner is the real mover.

manāk iti pada-prayogaḥ[Rūpa] deploys the word 'manāk' (slightly)'मनाक्' (किंचित्) इस पद का प्रयोग किया गया
ata eva manāk iti pada-prayogaḥ — for just this reason there is the use of the word 'manāk'.
And that is precisely why Rūpa reached for the word manāk, 'slightly.' Since the hearing is only a cause in name, the verse pins it down to 'just a little.'
