An udāharaṇa: the lead-in reads gandhād, yathā — 'from scent, as follows' — marking this verse as an illustration of love stirred through gandha, fragrance as the stimulus. The speaker is a vraja gopī who, so Viśvanātha sets it, has smelled Kṛṣṇa's cast-off (nirmālya) garland without being told whose it is, and now speaks in wonder.

Look — its swarm of bees is drawn right to it; and though the garland is faded, it still works, amply.
yāta-yāma is the pun the whole verse turns on. On the surface it means 'faded, past its hour'; underneath, per the lexicon, it also means 'used, already enjoyed' — pointing to the garland being Kṛṣṇa's cast-off, worn one. Both Jīva and Viśvanātha stop here to fix the two senses (their next segments).

The word yāta-yāma carries two senses — 'aged, faded' and 'used, already enjoyed.' So says the nānārtha section, the lexicon's list of words with more than one meaning. Jīva flags the double reading up front.
This is why both meanings matter: yāta-yāma is a śleṣa. On the face of it the garland is 'faded'; the second sense, 'already used,' hints that it is a used, cast-off garland — the seed of the verse's real point.

Her friend has shown her the vaijayantī garland but has not told her what it really is — it is Śrī Kṛṣṇa's own cast-off garland. She smells it, swoons, then comes to, and in wonder speaks 'vibhrājante…'. So Viśvanātha sets the scene: the fragrance alone, from a garland Kṛṣṇa has worn, overwhelms her — and she does not even know whose it is.
nirmālya: the flowers or garland already worn and used by Kṛṣṇa and then set aside. Its power here is that it still carries his bodily fragrance — which is why the mere scent fells her.

yeṣāṁ puṣpāṇy api sukhavanti sukhena eva mūrcchāṁ prāpayanti ca — those whose very flowers are blissful and by that bliss cause swoon; te punar aparimita-sukhavanto bhavanti iti anumime — those trees, then, must be of measureless bliss, so I infer; iti bhāvaḥ — such is the sense.
Take 'sukhinaḥ' (blissful) and 'mohanāḥ' (swoon-casting) together. Even the flowers of those trees are full of bliss — and it is that very bliss that makes one swoon. So the trees themselves must have bliss beyond measure. That is what she infers. So Viśvanātha reads both epithets off one inference: the flowers are the evidence, the trees the conclusion.

Why cited: Cited to fix the double sense of yāta-yāma — 'faded' and 'already used' — on the authority of the Amara-kośa, underwriting the śleṣa that the garland is Kṛṣṇa's used, cast-off one.
