śikhari-bhara-vitarkataḥ prataptaṁ
śikhari-bhara-vitarkataḥbecause of the anxious dread over the weight of the mountain ablative -taḥ: 'from / because of'; vitarka here = worried conjecture, not reasoningपर्वत (गोवर्धन) के भार की व्याकुल आशंका के कारण
prataptaṁ[the heart] was scorched, burnt with torment(हृदय) अत्यन्त सन्तप्त हो उठा / जल उठा
śikhari-bhara-vitarkataḥ — because of dread over the mountain's weight; prataptam — [the heart] was scorched.
One side of the heart: scorched. The gopīs watch Kṛṣṇa holding up Govardhana and burn with dread over that huge weight.
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse, Lalita-mādhava 9.39, in the gopīs' voice) of bhinnayor eka-hetujayoḥ — two DIFFERENT transient feelings (here viṣāda/grief and harṣa/joy) that spring from a SINGLE cause. The mūla's own framing 'atha bhinnayoḥ | tatra eka-hetujayoḥ' sets this up, and both Jīva and Viśvanātha close by naming that one cause: the beloved (priya) himself.

priyasyaof the belovedप्रियतम के
priyasya īkṣayā — by beholding the beloved; aharniśam — day and night; samaham — [the heart was] made festive.
The other side of the same heart: festive, day and night, from the sight of the beloved.
The one word 'priyasya' (of the beloved) does double duty — it is why the mountain-dread hurts (it is HIS burden) and it is what the eye feasts on. Jīva makes exactly this point in s2.

At the very same instant, in a way never seen before, that heart split in two — burning and rejoicing at once. That simultaneous split from one cause is what the verse is here to show.

So the beloved alone comes out as the cause of both — the burning and the joy. One cause behind the two contrary feelings.

He unpacks 'scorched' as the gopīs' inner cry: 'Alas, alas! Such a huge weight — and the dearmost carries it, and only with great pain, on an arm as soft as a śirīṣa flower!' That dread is what burns the heart.
The śirīṣa (Albizia) blossom is proverbially the softest of flowers; here it measures how impossibly delicate Kṛṣṇa's arm seems for such a load, which is why the sight torments them.

Why cited: adduced to show that the mere sight of the beloved — even straining under a load — is itself a festival to the eyes, grounding how the same scene that scorches also yields 'samaham,' festivity.
