In the countryside round the mountain live some restless hill-women. What makes them restless: the sight of a tamāla tree, whose dark bark is the very color of Kṛṣṇa.
पर्वत के आसपास चंचल पुलिन्द स्त्रियाँ रहती हैं, जो तमाल (के श्याम वृक्ष) को देखने के कारण (कृष्ण का स्मरण कर उठती हैं)।
The udāharaṇa of smṛti, 'recollection' — one of the vyabhicāri-bhāvas of this chapter — illustrating Rūpa's sub-rule sā sadṛśekṣayā: memory sprung from seeing something similar. From Haṁsadūta 23. The look-alike here is the dark tamāla, which brings Kṛṣṇa back to mind.
यह स्मृति का उदाहरण है — इस अध्याय के व्यभिचारी-भावों में से एक — जो रूप गोस्वामी के उपनियम 'सा सदृशेक्षया' को दर्शाता है: किसी समान वस्तु को देखने से जागी हुई स्मृति। हंसदूत के २३वें श्लोक से। यहाँ वह समरूप वस्तु श्याम तमाल है, जो कृष्ण की याद दिला देता है।

pūrva-anubhūta-artha-pratītiḥthe awareness of a thing experienced before, coming back to mind pūrva-anubhūta = 'previously experienced'; pratīti = its cognition returningपहले अनुभव किए हुए विषय की पुनः प्रतीति (ज्ञान का लौट आना)
smṛtiḥ— that is smṛti, recollection predicate: X is smṛtiवही स्मृति है
pūrvānubhūtārtha-pratītiḥ — the awareness of a thing experienced before; smṛtiḥ — is smṛti.
pūrva-anubhūta-artha-pratītiḥ — पूर्व-अनुभूत विषय की प्रतीति; smṛtiḥ — (यही) स्मृति है।
Jīva defines the term. Smṛti is the mind's re-cognizing of something it has met before — a thing once experienced coming back to awareness.
पहले अनुभव किए हुए विषय की जो पुनः प्रतीति होती है, वही स्मृति है।

pīyūṣa-kirām iti kvib-antasya ṣaṣṭhy-antaṁ padam ||
pīyūṣa-kirām itithe word 'pīyūṣa-kirām' ('of those who scatter nectar') iti flags the pada being parsed'पीयूष-किराम्' यह पद
kvib-antasyaof a stem ending in the kvip suffix — i.e. the bare root pīyūṣa-kir-, 'nectar-scatterer' kvip is a kṛt suffix elided to zero, leaving a root-noun; the genitive here = 'the …-form of this stem'क्विबन्त (जिसके अन्त में क्विप् प्रत्यय लुप्त है, ऐसे) शब्द का
ṣaṣṭhy-antaṁ padamis a word in the sixth case (genitive) ṣaṣṭhī = genitive; so pīyūṣa-kirām is its genitive pluralषष्ठ्यन्त पद है (अर्थात् षष्ठी का बहुवचन रूप)
pīyūṣa-kirām iti padam — the word 'pīyūṣa-kirām'; kvib-antasya — of the kvip-ending stem; ṣaṣṭhy-antam — is [its] genitive form.
pīyūṣa-kirām iti — 'पीयूष-किराम्' यह पद; kvib-antasya — इस क्विबन्त शब्द का; ṣaṣṭhy-antaṁ padam — षष्ठ्यन्त रूप है।
A grammar note. Take the word pīyūṣa-kirām. Its stem, pīyūṣa-kir- ('nectar-scatterer'), is built with the kvip suffix, which drops away to nothing and leaves the bare root. And pīyūṣa-kirām is that stem in the genitive.
'पीयूष-किराम्' यह पद क्विबन्त शब्द का षष्ठ्यन्त (षष्ठी-विभक्ति का) रूप है।
The word pīyūṣa-kirām is not in the four lines above; Jīva is parsing a pada from the fuller text. The decode keeps to the grammar he states.
'पीयूष-किराम्' शब्द ऊपर की चार पंक्तियों में नहीं है; जीव पूर्ण पाठ के किसी पद का विश्लेषण कर रहे हैं। यह विवरण उनकी बताई हुई व्याकरण-प्रक्रिया तक ही सीमित रहता है।
