upataru — near the tree; tāṁ lalitām — that Lalitā; sadyaḥ pratyabhijñāya — recognizing her at once
Near the tree I knew her in a flash — that was Lalitā.
An udāharaṇa: this is Rūpa's own verse UN 6.40, re-cited here at 13.38, spoken by Kṛṣṇa to his friend Madhumaṅgala (so Viśvanātha, s9). Viśvanātha (s1) says Rūpa adds it because the previous example did not clearly show kartavyatā-mūḍhatva — the 'bewilderment as to what one ought to do' that marks the transient emotion being illustrated here.

And I saw the Rādhā-image, its form sweet by its very nature.
Viśvanātha (s10) fixes rādhākṛti here as śrī-rādhā-pratimā — the image of Rādhā, i.e. the sapphire-and-gold statue of the story — not Rādhā in person.

Viśvanātha explains why Rūpa gives a second example. In the earlier verse the 'not knowing what to do' did not come through plainly. Unsatisfied with that, Rūpa adds a further illustration, opening it 'yathā vā' — 'or else, take this one.'

Just then Lalitā — an old woman has by now told her the whole story — puts the Rādhā-image, wearing the Syamantaka jewel at its neck, into the old woman's hand, and steps behind a tree to watch for Kṛṣṇa.
Here the story locks onto the verse's words: this 'Rādhā-image' is the rādhākṛti of L2, and this Syamantaka jewel is the maṇi 'crest-jewel of Śaṅkhacūḍa' of L3. Kṛṣṇa recognizes all three at once — Lalitā, the image, the jewel — which is what floods him.
