Rādhā, gripped by nirveda, reads neglect in Kṛṣṇa from the gloomy face of the friend who has just come back from him — and so she speaks. 'Joy lies in his lap alone,' because he is joy itself made flesh; so 'longing for that' means longing to reach his lap. That is the sense.

But they mostly never say this aloud. Kṛṣṇa, though — the crest-jewel of those who read hearts — knows it anyway. Verses like 'I cannot repay you of faultless love' prove it: his being won over by them makes no sense on any other reading. So the verse is explained this way.
Why cited: SB 10.32.22 (Kṛṣṇa telling the gopīs he cannot repay their love) is adduced to prove Kṛṣṇa recognizes their unspoken, selfless intent — otherwise his being conquered by them would be inexplicable.

And so too on the other side: the Dvārakā queens say plainly, 'we are only his house-maids,' 'I am his sweeper' — words with no trace of self-desire. Yet even there, in some measure, the subtle wish 'may Kṛṣṇa gladden me by his touch' is present.
Why cited: SB 10.83.39 ('we are the house-maids of that self-content one') and 'I am his house-sweeper' are adduced to show that the queens' love outwardly voices pure self-abnegation, yet even there the subtle wish to be pleased by Kṛṣṇa remains in some measure.
samañjasa-rati — the 'proper', wedded love of the Dvārakā queens; set against the Vraja gopīs' samartha-rati of s3. The point: even in this more restrained love a faint wish to be gladdened by Kṛṣṇa survives.
