netraja-nirjhareṇa snātā — bathed in the stream from her eyes (her tears); svedāmbu-muktāvaliṁ dadhatī — wearing a pearl-necklace of sweat-drops.
Uddhava paints Lalitā as a bride groomed for union. She has bathed — but the bath-water is the flood of tears from her eyes. She wears a pearl necklace — but the pearls are beads of sweat. Under the picture of ornament, two sāttvikas are already breaking out: tears (aśru) and perspiration (sveda).
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) of uddīpta sāttvika-bhāva — the blazing degree in which five, six, or all the sāttvikas break out at once at their peak (lakṣaṇa quoted just above from BRS 2.3.79). Uddhava reports the plight of Lalitā, who is pining in separation, to Kṛṣṇa; he poetically imagines her, really a proṣita-bhartṛkā, as a vāsaka-sajjā adorned for fresh union, so that each symptom of grief reads as a bridal ornament (so Viśvanātha).

Her jacket is the mass of standing hair all over her body — horripilation (romāñca, pulaka). Her complexion has gone sandal-pale: on the surface, whitened with sandal-paste like a groomed bride; underneath, drained white by separation — that is pallor (vaivarṇya). Two more sāttvikas, hidden inside the bridal picture.

Her lovely voice falters, breaking off half-said — the sāttvika of a broken voice (svara-bheda). She is 'joined by a friend her own age': on the surface a sakhī beside her; underneath, her only companion is her own murmuring. And so she shows herself, vivid — sphurati.

So Lalitā stands adorned and ready for fresh union with you, Kṛṣṇa — leaning on a pillar. But 'stambha' is double: the pillar of the bower, and the stambha-sāttvika, the stiffening paralysis that has gripped her. That completes six sāttvikas breaking out at once — the very mark of the uddīpta, the blazing degree.

Now Viśvanātha names the poetic engine. Lalitā is really a proṣita-bhartṛkā — a woman whose beloved is away. But Uddhava, by utprekṣā (fanciful superimposition), pictures her as a vāsaka-sajjā — a woman adorned and waiting in the bower for union. Every symptom of grief then gets read as a bridal ornament. That is what drives the whole śleṣa.
proṣita-bhartṛkā and vāsaka-sajjā are stock heroine-types (nāyikā) of alaṅkāra-śāstra: the first pines because her lover has travelled away; the second sits groomed and ready in the tryst-bower. The verse's pun works by dressing the first in the costume of the second — grief described as bridal readiness.

Why does the verse open with a bath? Because a vāsaka-sajjā first needs her body made beautiful — ornaments, garments, all that befits meeting the beloved — and grooming begins with bathing. So the verse starts 'snātā', she has bathed.

Here the pun opens into two readings, both kept. Reading one, the bridal: her 'pearl-necklace' is the sweat on her — she has put on her ornaments; and śrī-khaṇḍa means sandal-paste, so her glow is whitened by sandal, as a groomed bride's would be. Reading two (pakṣe): by separation from you, her glow has gone pale like sandalwood — that is vaivarṇya, the pallor-sāttvika. Viśvanātha holds both at once; the verse means both.

And that murmuring speech is her only girl-friend; through it, and through your vivid presence in her memory (sphūrti), she is 'joined with you'. So the bridal 'friend at her side' is really her own broken words for company.

stambhaḥ sāttvikaḥ, kuñja-gṛha-sthūṇā ca — 'stambha' is the sāttvika (paralysis), and also the pillar-post of the bower.
The closing pun, spelled out: 'stambha' is at once the stambha-sāttvika — the paralysis that stiffens her — and the sthūṇā, the pillar-post of the tryst-bower she leans on. Both senses stand together.
