An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) of sveda ('perspiration', one of the eight sāttvika-bhāvas) arising from bhaya ('fear'); the lead-in reads bhayād yathā — 'as [sveda] from fear.' Kṛṣṇa speaks it in his own voice, soothing the frightened Viśākhā.
यह श्लोक 'स्वेद' (पसीना — आठ सात्त्विक भावों में से एक) का उदाहरण है, जो 'भय' से उत्पन्न होता है; इसकी भूमिका में 'भयाद् यथा' — अर्थात् 'जैसे भय से [स्वेद]' — कहा गया है। इसे स्वयं कृष्ण अपनी वाणी में कहते हैं, डरी हुई विशाखा को सान्त्वना देते हुए।

This thick bower is your real 'husband' — it is what shelters you. He is teasing: since Viśākhā fears the gopa outside who fancies himself her husband (so Viśvanātha frames it), Kṛṣṇa says the bower that hides them is her true protecting lord.

Kṛṣṇa had just made love with Viśākhā in the bower. By chance she heard a cowherd who takes himself for her husband coming near, and grew frightened. Soothing her, Kṛṣṇa speaks the verse 'mā bhūḥ...'. This frame is what makes the puns land: the gopa outside 'thinks himself her husband,' so Kṛṣṇa can playfully call the sheltering bower her true lord.
कुंज में जिसके साथ सम्भोग हुआ था, और जो दैववश अपने को पति समझने वाले किसी ग्वाले के आने की बात सुनकर डर रही थी, उस विशाखा को सँवारते हुए श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा — 'मा भूः' इत्यादि।
